I just noticed yesterday that the crack is growing all on it's own. It's late winter here, things are just warming up enough that I washed it yesterday and took it out for a short spin.

I have not so much as touched the window, and it's growing. Makes me think it's not the window afterall.....

So the prevailing theory is that it happens because of flex when the window is put all the way down, so why doesn't it happen to all of them?

My driver's side is fine, this guy above said it only happened once out of 5 times for him. And not only that, as I mentioned before, the crack in my passenger side panel is growing on it's own, even when the car isn't being used.

Also, how far is "all the way down"? I always made sure not to let it go down to the stops because I'd see the panel flex and didn't like that, even before the crack started. I try to keep the top edge of the glass even with the top of the weather strip that goes along the top of the door, or even just a hair above that.

Are there any instructions anywhere for getting the panels off? I really hate pulling the interior of any car apart. I especially hate the idea of pulling this one apart without knowing exactly what to do.

OK I did a search for this problem because I just noticed a small white line on both my door panels last weekend. I bought my car new and its been kept in a garage since I bought it. It only has 22k miles on it and since I live in Fla. it has never seen temps lower than 30.

Is anyone still thinking about trying a class action suit about this defect?

I have taken pride in keeping my interior spotless since I bought my car. Something like this really sucks.

well I think it has happend to enough of them... that we can actually put a petition out to GM... I talked to my uncle *who is my lawyer* and we have very strong grounds for holding a case up in court to get a redesign of the door panels or them all replaced *might happen again though* but! I am not gonna be the only person sittin in court... so if anyone is in richmond area and might be interested... let me know

Hi, I don't think it's going to be a courtroom thing. GM does things over the phone via the Better Business Bureau when it comes to Lemon Law or having things fixed the GM either won't or can't.

Ask your Uncle about how the mass general public can go about this with an obvious defect that has shown up years later with cars of course that are now out of warranty.

I would say we have something that GM should cover, but how to get them to take care of this no one knows. It's not an abuse factor and it's not a factor of cars sitting in FL sun or the desert or extreme cold.

Please ask him, I would like to get mine replaced.

Well the thread here is 3 pages long, and there was another on LS2.com, that was also multiple pages, so there seems to be quite a few who have the problem.
Maybe the admins would post a poll in all the subforums so you could get an accurate number (at least for the folks who frequent this site)
