Smile ws6 for ss

The dealer where I bought my ws6 just brought in a ss and since I have been having some trouble with the car he said that I could trade it in for the ss. Would this be a good idea or not. My 01 ws6 108k miles or the 00 camaro ss with 102k miles. They are both black and M6.

Well since you posted this in the Firebird forum, the votes will probably lean heavily towards keeping the 'bird. If this was in the Camaro forum, then I'm sure the votes would lean heavily towards trading for the Camaro.

If the problems you're having aren't major, I say keep the 'bird and have the problems fixed. The SS could have it's own set of problems too....you just never know. I doubt if the dealer would be as eager to trade you back the 'bird if you do swap for the Camaro.

well, the trans am's have a higher resale value than camaro's for some reason even though they are both top of the line models persay, and yours is 1 year newer. So i would pass, unless they offered you some cash for your troubles, say a few grand.
what probs are you having with the t/a??

unless you really want to make a change because you are board with the car you have, go for it.
there is a big appearance market for the camaro, and not so much for the t/a, but look how plan the ss looks sitting next to the ws6.

The 2001 model years had many internal improvements to the engine compared the the pre-'01 LS1's.

I'd keep the '01. If you still want to sell, can you spring for a 'Vette? They always have lower miles than usual and you can get some nice cars with a payment under $400 considering your car in the deal.

used GTO?

A basic t56 rebuild should be less than $800. Look to the right for a tranny rebuiler.==>

Dont go to AAMCO, they are theives.

My dad unknowingly took my TA there and you know how much they charged him to rebuild my transmission....... Wait for it.....
3500 dollars.

My friend at the GM dealer could have gotten me a new T56 for that price.

Think about it. Why would you trade in you car, which has problems but at least problems you KNOW about, for a car that you know NOTHING about??? It's insane to even think about it. Plus the fact that's it's a year older doesn't help the case any for me.

yeah, GTO's are pretty reasonale used now, '04s for around 22k and '05s for about 25-26k depending on mileage, etc. Otherwise fix the T/A and keep it, sometimes I wish I had bought one.

Camaro's are cool and all, but if you are going to get rid of your ws.6 atleast get an 02 Camaro SS.....it will surely hold its value better and like others have said GTO's are nice too I have test drove several 04's they run really good and the interior is sweet....but hell with the few mods u have done it would be a downgrade...3850lb curb weight hog...GTO

yeah, im a camaro man, but i think that alot of us camaro men would agree with the bird boys on this one, your talkin about getting rid of a car that u know the history of to step into something with almost as many miles but OLDER!! Stick with what u got or upgrade, cause thats a downgrade just cause of the danger of the unknown!!

Unhappy price

They are charging me 2800 to repair the transmission or 1500 for a used one, and the warranty covers 1000. Are they charging me too much or is this reasonable.

$2,800 to repair a manual trans? That's ridiculous! That's even high for an automatic...
