Mine has been broken for close to a year now but I just ordered a new one from pontiac-parts-for-less.com for $13.34 US plus shipping.

The clowns here in Canada insist that the only way to get a new lid is to order the entire center console. I'll be dropping by the local GM parts department with the new lid and the part number so they can make a note of it.

Part #'s are
- 1040-8634 for the automatic trans
- 1027-1366 for the manual trans

You wouldn't be laughing if you were in Canada............I showed one of the local GM parts managers the new lid, still in the plastic with the part number across the front and he said "You shouldn't be able to get that without the console"

My local Pontiac dealer has tried pulling the same BS with me over time. I want to order a part, and he tries to tell me (sell me) an entire large part!

Its all so they can make more profit on the more expensive part, instead of the smaller parts.

I always use gmpartsdirect now...thier website will give you the part numbers, then you can order them online, or give that number to your local dealer.

If its smaller/cheaper parts, your probably better off getting the part locally, due to the shipping/handling of ordering small parts online.

just my 2cents worth.

I don't have a problem with the ashtray - I did break the cover/panel where the TCS button goes on. Does any of the websites you guys mention sell this? What part # is it?

Is callout number 12 the part you are looking for in the picture below? If so, the part number is 10280510.

You can try GM Parts Direct

You'll need one of the two following part numbers;

- 1040-8634 for the automatic trans
- 1027-1366 for the manual trans

Ok, so the lid breaks, insted of buying news so they will eventually break too, has anyone found a stronger one or solution to keep it from breaking?
