As many have said before...a ls1 is a ls1 is a ls1. I too feel your pain as people seem to think my t/a must just be a v6 or another non-worthy POS as it is not a "WS6". I was going to get a ram air hood so that it looked as good as it performed, but now I kinda like the suprise factor of a less mean looking car.
Your next steps performancewise should be a set of long tube headers and a stall.

go on, get in it and stomp the throttle.
flashes to 1600rpm and then you wait for it to get fast..
what you need is a HIGH STALL torque converter.
it feels like downshifting two gears BUT FROM A STOP
then you will need sticky tires.
THEN you will be fast "like a stick"

Nothing at all wrong with an auto T/A. I just bought the WS6 cause it has a little more 'wow' factor and seems to turn more heads. My car is stock and I know against a stock z28/trans am that it'd be a drivers race.

Yup... Happens all the time to me too. They think because I'm not driving ANY form of a TA, their probes would whoop up on me. They line up and get clowned horribly, then try to play it off on a shitty start, or missing the gate from 1st to 2nd or some gay **** like that when the reality is, THEY GOT THEIR ASSES KICKED. At least the mustang GT owners around here are smart and don't try a whole lot of ****.... it's those damn ricer kids that drive me nuts.

hehe don't feel bad, I have a 99 WS6 and it's soooooooooooooooooo slow, my 00 stock z28 could run laps around it!
Anyway when I had my z28 everyone thought that it was a v6 because it didn't have the hood and body panels and the emblems were the same color as the body..black. I know how aggervating it is to have people say stupid things about the differences between a SS and a Z28 or between a Trans am and the WS6.. same thing to me.

wow gotta love peoples basic knowledge of cars!.. me being in HS i talk to a bunch of people that well think they have "the ****" on wheels when its literally that lol... people tel me they have porsches and other **** but never show up to school with it??....lol cant wait till i roll up this year with my debaged 1994 formula... granted it will have a ram air hood... i dont think anyones gonna **** with my car when they hear it

I get more love then hate with my Formula. I've heard the you don't have RAM AIR thing before even by WS6 owners but it's mostly on the web. The best laugh I had recently was a buddy of mine pulled into my driveway to show me his new rims on his Mini Cooper S. He said he had started modding his Mini by adding a new pully and he was ready to take on my Firebird now. I just had a grin on my face, told him about my mods and then asked him "are you sure you want to Fred"? He said no, the 4.11's made him change his mind (like I wouldn't rape his *** with the 3.42's). I later kicked myself in the *** for not taken him for $100.

and no one was close to me. This is in a lightly modded Formula mind you. You just have to read the situation and never act as stupid as all of the **** talkers out there. Mines an auto and I don't have to worry about missing a gear either. M6s are for fun autos FTW.
