I vote for a converter! I am dead stock and my converter helped me drop .4-.5 off my times alone in the quarter. Imagine on a car that has mods. Put that basically stock HP to the test!

what about headers. I heard you wont really notice a difference in you ORY unless you put headers on with it?

How much money? I didn't see a budget.

With money on the table I'd say forced induction. It's like having nitrous in every gear and the bottle never runs out.

You will definately feel the headers in the seat of your pants under full throttle. Long tubes are the way to go for good power gains. You'll need a tune pretty bad if you get them though. You'll run pretty rich if you don't tune it. I highly recommend Hooker, it totally changed the feel of my car in a good way!

BTW, you are correct, the ORY won't really do too much without the headers in front of it. Good luck with whatever you decide.

With 1500.00 to spend get the long tubes, but most definately get a good torque converter. I just put a 3200 Vigilante in a stock 98 TA A4 2.73 rear and it dropped my ET over .4, the only mod is a lid. A converter in a stock A4 car is one of the best mods you can make, just dont waste your money on a cheap converter.

You will notice the lid and it's cheap. ($100 = 10 rwhp)

Definately get an underdrive pulley. ($225 with belts = 9 rwhp)

Then install some good headers ($500 coated Pacesetters with y-pipe = 25hp)

Then get car tuned on a dyno. ($300-$500 = 25rwhp)

That's what I would do... ~Joshua

WS6Rampage- There is an obvious problem with a stall that high in a daily driver... the convertor is constantly slipping around town becasue of the high stall. It actually feels like a dog around town compared to a converter in the 2,300- 2,800 range. Plus because it's always slipping it really heats up the tranny fluid.

Unless you have a big cam, or it's a weekend toy that has the pedal down most of the time I'd consider getting a covertor that's slightly smaller.

I would advise doing the headers, smaller coverter (2,800~ 3,200max), gears, cam/springs, nitrous in that order if I had an auto. ~Joshua

Hm,..I heard that it wouldn't be so much of an issue as long as I eased up on my lead foot!

So ur say'n that I should go with headers and then a smaller stall then I had in mind?

Yep. I rode in a car that had a 4,200 stall convertor with a baby cam. It rode like an absolute dog unless you had the pedal on the floor. Driving around having the engine spinning up and going nowhere @ 1/2 throttle and the car barely moving anywhere. Complete ***. It wouldn't get out of it's own way unless you pushed the pedal all the way down and fine-a-f#ck-inly the car would move out.

I'd do headers, a 2,800 stall, and think about what cam specs would be good for your tastes. The 2,800 stall is a good all around stall speed.

Sell that ring and put 6k into a Procharger (reliable, complete supercharger kit) and you'll never sell that WS6.

Seriously! I need to unload that ring so I have money to work with. I called procharger about a year ago and the kit and instalation was gonna cost me about 7k and the programing was gonna cost me an additional 2k. I nearly shat a brick when i heard that. thats why I'm considering Vortech instead.
