Default I bought the SLP reverse

After about 2 weeks of remembering to turn the TCS off every time I got in the car I bought the $70 reverse switch. Default mode is off unless you hit the switch, takes 2 minutes to install. It rains like hell here in NW Oregon and I do use the TCS sometimes. But I decide when and you don't want to be sitting at a stop sign and forget that you have TCS on. You may get embarrassed. But the dash warning light stays on, which is kind of annoying.

So if you just pull the TCS fuse, you never have TCS, correct?

No, they are seperate systems that share sensors. I would not unplug the harness by the battery as that is only part of the system. Much easier to pull the fuse.

It's fine to pull the fuse, but if you put it back in or use a switch like 01badbird you have to turn the engine off and back on for it to start working again.

I pulled my fuse a long time ago and as long as I buy good tires I never have needed to put it back in. I keep it close by just in case.

Mine does not have the Traction Control box under the A/C control Panels, Did some of the 2001 WS6 not come with the TCS or is it something the previous owner did to the car. I don't understand why it would not have it. I really need it, traffic is crazy in Houston and when it rains it would help alot. Any one know the cost of having it put back in or what I could do to be able to control to the traction.

Traction control was an option. If your car doesn't have it you can't add it.

Maybe your rear tires are no good in the rain?

Well, it would involve a rear axle swap, PCM and ECM swap, wiring harness swap, antilock brake valve swap and maybe a few other odds and ends. If you want it bad enough and have enough money (you also have to figure labor for it all) then Yes, it is possible. It would be much more cost efficient to just swap the entire car, though. Maybe even swap to a newer or nicer car.

Come on, 3 or 4+ thousand dollars to add traction control? So I usually just tell people it's not something you can add.

It's a saftey device. Kind of like airbags or something. I specifically set out to get a car with it. After a couple of months though it became a pain in the ***. If your tires are crap and spin all the time in the wet, then it can be a lifesaver. I fixed that problem with 315's of either Nitto Drag Radial or Goodyear GSD3. The only other 315 I tried was the Sumitomo HTR-Z and it still needed the TCS. Even with sticky rain tires it still comes down to driver control. I can still get the car sideways and do often for fun and the good tires allow me to control when and where I slide. The other tires would break loose at unpredictable times and broke loose easily. That's why I consider them death traps.

Question for those who have the SLP reverse switch, does the dash light that says TCS off still come on, or does it stay off?

I don't have that SLP device, but I'm sure the dash light stays on. All the SLP device does is automatically press the button for you so you don't have to think about it. If you want to turn it back on, then you manualy press the button. That's all it is.
