Default Woohoo, Got my Firebird!

Hey guys,

I bought a Firebird yesterday, registered today so I was finally able to drive it... man I love it! It's so comfortable and is so much more fun to drive than the SUVs and Minivans I've been driving. This is the first car I've owned (driven parents' cars previously) and I couldn't be happier. It is a Black 2000 Base Firebird (so I guess it's not an LS1 correct?) with 69K miles + TTop roof. It's in great shape with only minor scratches n' stuff and was maintained by the same mechanic all its life. I paid $7500, which I think was a fair deal all around - the car was also delivered to me at no extra charge. Also, I'm paying about the same for full coverage insurance with Geico than my friends are paying for their non-sports cars!! I'm only 19 so the rates are pretty high for any car. I'll post pics soon.

Brendan

It COULD be an LS1, if it's a Formula. That's a base style. Either way, it's a good thing you like it

Nah it's not a formula, and it's a V6, which is why the insurance is lower. I got it for the look, so no worries!

I have a Formula... but even if it didn't have the V8.... I would have still bought the car. I as well, think they are one of the most beautiful cars on the road.

Congrats on the new ride.

Turbo it! Insurance shouldn't catch on and the '89 Anniversary with the Turbo V6 was a beast.

Of course, if you find something with an LS1 that was totaled in the rear you could manage that swap fairly easily and cheaply too I guess.

Out of curiosity, anybody know the weight of the V6 used in the base Firebird?

Congrats on the new car. You'll never want to drive anything else! I've owned an F body since 2000 and I'm still hooked.

I'll have mine a year the 26th. I remember driving it home and almost creaming my jeans. I still get that feeling to this day. I love my little sixer like a brother. The best part is just cruisin around, knowin the car looks good, and people braking thier necks starring at it.

True.... but that was the same V6 that Buick was using in GNX. It was a BEAST even in that tank.

I gotta say, I absolutely love this car! When I first got my license I would drive only if I needed to, but now I'll hop in the car for no reason just to go turn some heads!!

i remember that feeling with mine, i got it the summer before i turned 16, now its the summer before i turn 18 and im sick of the car. , I simply want an ls1, nothing like having the sweet v8 rumble and power to go with the looks, but i cannot find one that is in as good of shape as mine for the price i want , so i guess the supercharger that i have waiting to go in will have to do

congrats!!!

brings me back to when i first bought my firebird (formula) ... i had to drive from buffalo, ny area to NJ to pick it up, drove it home (and for the first time) in pouring rain for most of hte ride, but when i was comign back into NY, it was nice and dry... so when i was leaving the tollbooths near my house, i was going about 20mph and just stomped on it and it broke the tires loose!!

i was grinning the rest of the way home.
