Default headers question

I bought a 94 pontiac formula about a month and a half ago and have been looking to do some improvements. A good friend of mine said that i should get long tube headers. However I have heard that shorties will work just as well on my car. Is this true? What type of headers will get me the best bang for my buck?

I have long tubes on mine no problems here, IMO dont get shorties, they dont give you as much power as the long tubes, plus the Long tubes sound WAY better

post this in the LT1 forum for more replies

most of the people on here get pacesetters, they seem like they are ok, the flanges are pretty thick but I have heard the ceramic coating tends to chip and peel

If you are going to spend the money and do the work I would go ahead and get the long tubes as well. Much better bang for the buck and the sound is incredible.

With the long tubes, how much of a problem is road clearance? I like headers but I don't want to drag them everytime I go over a speed bump

As long as you don't get SLP's, clearance isn't much worse than stock. You would have to have the car slammed to the ground to scrap the collectors, and you'd be scraping a bunch of other undercarriage components in the process

Where do you live? I'm fairly sure the long tubes won't pass emissions here in CA.
