Look up "HPI Firebird" on ebay. It's about $25 shipped, but thats only for the body piece.

Here's my RCTA. Probably the only one on here with an electric chassis (Tamiya TA03R), and its got the aerodynamic wing on it (can't find my batwing spoiler). Haven't played with it in years. Flame suit zipped!

so whats the deal here? Can you buy the whole car with everything good to go out the box or do you need to just buy the shell and then build everything yourself?

You gotta get a chassis (your choice of nitro (gas) or electric), assemble it, then buy the Trans Am body. I don't think the body is available with any kits. You can also buy a "ready-to-run" kit, which doesn't require much assembly at all.
