1984 MR MSE Trans Am #20 of 57
owner: Don Towsend
I'm excited to add the first ever '84 MR MSE TA to the site. Don writes:

"Hello, thought I would give you a quick update on one of the cars listed on your web site, lot #6. It is a 1984 MSE Trans Am, #20 of 50. My wife Sue & I purchased this car from Volo Auto Museum in Volo ILL. July 10, 2004. The car has a little over 10,000 miles on her, and she looks great! The car has all the toys and includes the Mecham Git Kit, the Macho 5.7 liter engine, Talon suspension, and the Try-Y headers. We had to replace the Idler arm and Center link and put a new set of tires on her. Now she handles like a dream and is an absolute joy to drive. Would enjoy hearing from other MSE owners. Drop me an email at bi78rd@tds.net."

Best Regards;
Don Townsend

Can we get some info about them? 84 isn't going to be TPI, is it cross-fire? Is that the one with the Reccaro seats?

If it's a 400 I'll be EXTREMELY surprised. I don't think any 3rd gens got 400s.

Yea 170 is quite amazing. My 91 only had the sought after 150mph.

look over at thirdgen.org.... site deicated to 82-92 fbodys.. use the search, there are a handful of guys with those... probably a 5-10k car at least.. your car should have a numeric badge on the center console telling which number it is for the year, paint and wheels look correct, possibly different speedo, and if it has the "git kit" will be diff carb, intake, headers, exhaust. Look on the rear axle for a cable or signs of where a cable went from the axle to the body. These were made 82-85 and not many left around, as only a few hundred produced each year.. you can contact mecham directly possibly, as a search of the web should pop up a site for it. Any ?'s hit me up, even by pm, im a 3rd gen nut! more pics please!

It is a complete car. 170 mph speedo, all badges, cross member, sway cables on the rear. The lady that owned it before me bought all the stickers for the resto, so I have a complete kit. It had a tired 305 in there, so out that comes, but everything else will be accurate.
She's gonna be a monster when she's done
