Hard Top (93-97) or T-Top (98-02)

Hard Top (93-97) or T-Top (98-02)
In the next month, I will have two 4th gen F-bodys. My first car, 98 torch red, and a 95 black hard top. The 95 will be an LS1 conversion (body at least) or a project car. What would look more aggresive, a hard top or a t-top? I also wonder if anyone else has had their t-tops out duirng speeds in excess of 100 mph. Either one would make a solid project car, and I would like to keep one semistock for a daily driver, and one that is stupidly fast.

I loved the Ts on myT/A back in '98..took them off all the time. Guess that was part of being 20 years old and burning up the roads..The last 2 (Z28 & WS6) the tops were off of each once, twice at the most. I even kept the shades in them the whole time. I want a hardtop next time, so chances are my next LS1 car, other than another '69 project, will probably be a Camaro, unless I find a clean hard-top LT1 T/A and swap the front clip.

Definitely use the '95 for your speed machine. I have a '96 Formula and I really like it, but I think the front end on the '98-'02 models is much nicer. It's not really worth the cost to do a front clip swap for me. I absolutely hate the ram air hood on the pre '98 models.
Also, I take my tops off whenever the weather permits. They did a good job with aerodynamics on this car and wind has never been an issue.

My 93 TA was a hard-top, which I loved. My 94 TA had T-Tops, maybe took them off 3 times in 4 years. My 99 Firehawk, I have never driven with them off in 2 years.
Don't like it. I feel like I am saying "everyone look at me, I am a cool guy". I don't know, it's just not for me.
Rather have a hard-top.

I love my t-tops. I live in South Florida...so I take them off when it's not too sunny out, or when it's not raining. I guess they're off about 2-3 days a week.
I do kind of agree that having them off is like saying "everyone look at me, I am a cool guy"....but hey, I'm in college and the chics dig it.

I've had my tops out at speeds of 140+. it's quite a rush, when i'm in central indiana they're off unless it's raining but in the summer rain can come out of nowhere so i've had to pull of the side of the interstate and put them on a time or two, in the california desert i never had them off in the summer because it's way too hot.

hardtop. its different, adds a little structural integrity, and if its going to be any kind of project/race/drag car, youll either want or need a hardtop. ive had my tops off i think......twice, not including when i autoxd and need the drivers side off for helmet clearance. ive had the shades on since almost day one. with the sun absolutely beating down on you....bleh, i like the shade more. our window are big enough to let air in.
