Default New Help With Purchase 1967 Firebird

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this forum and classic cars as well. I do deal with cars alot, just new ones. But I have come about this 1967 Pontiac Firebird at an up coming auction. And as my father owned one of these as his first car I thought it would be great to buy it for him. But I do not know much about these cars and the auction is online and will not release any info on the car till the sale date, including the vin. The only thing I was able to get out of them is that it states 455 on the hood, and they can not comfirm that is the motor size. So what I was hoping is that some of you more expericened owners would be able to help me in any way by looking at these pictures. What is original, what isn't the motor size and what may look fishy and what looks good as well as options. Anything would be much help and is much apprecaited.

Thank You In Advance.

I HOPE I AM NOT TO LATE . MAN I WOULD BUY THAT CAR IN A MINUTE. EVEN IF IT IS NOT A 455 THAT IS NOTHING EASY FIX THE THING IS IT LOOKS TO BE A VERY NICE LOOKING BODY AN INTERIOR. THE HOOD IS A RAM AIR WITH A TACK ON THE HOOD THAT IS A GOOD SIGN. THE ONLY THING IS I DONT THINK A 455 WAS AVAILABLE IN 67. AND THERE IS NO EMBLEM ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE TRUNK LID. USALLY THE 400 AN 455 CARS HAD AN EMBLEM THERE.i OWN A 67 I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR SINCE 1984. THEY ARE GETTING VERY HARD TO FIND AS NICE AS THIS ONE. IF U BUY IT (WHICH I WOULD) TAKE THOSE UGLY *** RIMS AN TIRES OFF. BE COOL ROB

From the looks of it. It appears to be a very low option car and more than likely not an orginal 400 car.

The 455 is not orginal. Was not an option for 1st gens.

If you can pull the info from the data tag on the firewall and search it down on 1gen firebird.

As for the motor on the right front right where the head meets the block pontiac stamped a two digit code. research that code and it will tell you what size motor it is. Also in the center exhaust ports on the heads there should be a code on them that will help.

I agree with 67 pontiac though. Depending on price that looks like a very soild project.

Good luck with the purchase

it's a litte rough, and missing some things.. it's likely not got a 455 in it, from that angle it's hard to speculate.

it seems like a solid car.. and a good start to a project.

Heres what I see
It has a 400 hood but it doesn't have any of the other Firebird 400 trim.
The ORV Mirrors are wrong and to my knowledge 1st Gen Firebirds weren't available with a decklid spoiler except for the `69 T/A. Manual trans is a definete Plus.
Not a bad looking project car.
