No definitive answer, but probably just cool to show off. My belief is that for "rarity" to actually add value, the thing/option that makes it rare must also make it highly desireable. That's why Yenkos, COPOs, ZL1s, 4.88 gears, 426 HEMIs 427 SOHCs, SD-455 etc are so valueable these days. Colors of exteriors and interiors are a double-edge sword: A rare color or interior trim might make a car "rare", but there's probably a good reason the color is rare, possibly because its undesireable, certainly "unpopular".

I see what you mean. At least I can do what I want with the car without worrying about the value dropping horribly. It is pretty low anyways. Thanks a lot for the research and time.

I know most of you with T/A's and Formulas don't care much for this but my wife has a 1997 base red Firebird with 3.8. It is convertible with a white top. I have found production numbers for the convertibles at 1226. But can anyone point me in a direction to find a breakdown for the top colors? I would think the white top would be fairly rare. Any help is appreciated.

Before anyone asks, 2001 was the 75th Anniversary of Pontiac. A few different Pontiac models had a 75th Anniversary Package available.

Pontiac 75th Anniversary Firebird and Formula (2001) (Pontiac made a special package to commemorate the brand's 75th anniversary. It was designated with RPO code 1SX. Rather than any substantial performance or appearance changes, however, Pontiac opted to bundle the packages with badging and popular options. In fact, the Grand Am GT anniversary model was the only Pontiac to get its badging at the factory. All other '75th' cars received dealer-installed (optional) insignias. The Firebird V6 cars got the badging and the 3800 V6 performance package. The Formula got the badges, and a Hurst shifter in a manual or a 3.23 rear axle in an automatic. The Formula package probably also bundled T-tops, leather steering wheel, leather shift ****, and TA-style chrome 5-star wheels. There was no anniversary package known for the Trans Am, but some dealers may have installed the badges. At least some of them were installed on the B-pillars (behind the side windows). The other Pontiacs offered with '75th Anniversary' packages were the Grand Am GT, Sunfire SE coupe, Bonneville SE, Grand Prix GT/GTP, Montana, and Aztek. When the 2001 Firebird was still listed in the new car section of cars.com, the 75th Anniversary package was listed as one of the options. There wasn't much advertisement for it, but many dealerships were decorated with 75th Anniversary paraphernalia. The promotion ran from March 15, 2001 to April 30, 2001, and included various price discounts.)

Considering the majority of '02 cars w/ the LOB (Last of Breed) decals were either dealer or owner-installed, there are no sequence numbers for LOB cars specifically.
If you are looking for the sequence in which you car literally "rolled off the line" at the St. Therese assembly plant, you need to look no further than the last 6 digits of your VIN.

I'll add that. Didn't know what the RPO code was. From here:
Interestingly, while that description indicates no T/As received 1SX, CompNine's database contains 2 Y82 T/As w/ 1SX built. I've verified that these 2 cars were NOT Firebirds (L36) or Formulas (W66).

Also, not to nitpick, but the NHRA row seems out of place. Shouldn't it be in the Packages section instead of the Major Options section?
Thanks.
