Expect to see your check engine light come on sooner or later with these locking caps. The code will be P0442 for a small evap leak.

I see them all day long....

They don't make them for the '98s. No way around it for an OEM fit.

Are the ones from GM better than the Stant plastic POSes? I haven't come across any locking ones besides the Stants, and they just suck (and break).

hi i live in germany and i am also interested in a locking gas cap for my 1999 Trans Am. Can you please tell me where i can get it with a direct link. because i dont know much shop in the us which ship to germany.

The plastic locking gas caps are a waste of money. You can easily remove them by using a big set of channel locks and sqeezing them, they come right off.

you need to make sure that the cap is application specific.. the wrong cap will throw a CEL.

all caps that fit this car are plastic. a locking plastic cap can be broken with one's bare hands.
