I get 25 to 26 combined with 98 Formula A4 and 2.73 gears. If I can get on an interstate with a 70-75 limit I can get 28-30 easy. Around here the limit is 55 until you get 3 hours away, so it burns more gas driving slower. With the gears and OD it covers more distance at higher speeds and the RPM difference is less than 300 between 70 and 55. Much over 80 and it has to push more air and the mileage levels out. Heading west in Nebraska it drops because of the headwind at 80mph, going east it picks up with the tail wind. Under 80 it doesnt make much difference.

You might call this bullshit, but I got 29mpg in March on my way to Vegas..I went 120 miles & filled it up again. This wasn't no straight road either. Lots of hills & curves. I was in 6th gear most of the time though

way back when i daily drove my TA, i went 330 miles on one tank, and the fuel light never came on. probably had another 50+ miles till she was actually empty. this was driving through upstate NY, up and down the adirondack mountains. she was bone stock but a K&N, and i dont remember ever getting out of 6th, even going up the mountians. and i say mountians, not just hills. i think after all my mods ive lost mileage, not that i care.

side question: i recently installed an older interceptor gauge. it has a MPG function. how accurate do you think that is? is it just a mathamatical equation down with RPM vs. speed vs. horsepower? or does it actually measure the fuel consumption?

ive put 25K miles in the 8yrs ive owned her, so i dont care about mileage other then curiousity.

good luck using jetfuel...that will destroy your engine. Jetfuel is basically diesel.

On the long distance trips I can get 330-340 miles to a tank easy, driving around in town and on the two lane it is usually around 270-300 when I fill it again. Usually I am beating on it and passing people doing 45 that were in such an enormous hurry they had to get on the highway so they pulled out when I was less than 1/8 mile away. We have an abundance of idiots here, not as abundant as South Carolina, but close.

Im in bumper to bumper traffic all the way to work on the street, and my average for the last two months has been 11.84 mpg. Im sure the cam and tune doesn't help, but thats what she does. Haven't taken her on a highway trip in a while, so im not sure what my highway mileage would be.

I am getting approximately 15 mpgs in the city on an '00 T/A LS1 with a GU5. Doesn't seem to matter how heavy my foot is, since I have never reached 16 even when I drove super green.

Same here.

One trip (from Durham NC to Fauquier County VA) early in the morning on a Spring day, granny shifting near 2000rpm and using the Cruise Control the entire way, No A/C - I saw 34.9MPG.

That what I think is hilarious is how people keep saying that modern v8 engines are major gas guzzlers no matter what car they are in.

This...:

But damn it was fun!!

Swat
thats some LOW *** oil pressure!

Remove the baffels?? Why? aero dynamics? it does have them slots which should be more then enough at speeds under 75

Thats a v6.. and if you look it says hes around 65 70psi, thats PLENTY of pressure. I'm usually at around 50 or something doing 130 or 140..

I get around 19-22 city, 26-29 highway STOCK.

If anything, ram air would actually consume MORE fuel due to the COLD air induction. Colder air will equate to more air molecules.. which then equate to your engine detecting the exhaust as too "lean".. thus automatically adjusting the air/fuel ratio to inject more fuel to compensate. Of course that's with a stock set-up.. if you have a tune then it doesn't matter.

As for regular, plus, or premium gas.. the difference between octanes is the amount of pressure/heat it takes to ignite the fuel. The higher the octane rating, the harder it is to ignite. A stock WS6's compression ratio is 10.0:1 which will probably use 91 octane most of the time. If you put 87 octane you run the risk of PRE DETONATION meaning since the amount of pressure/fire it takes to ignite 87 octane is lower.. the 10.0:1 compression might pre detonate while it is in the compression stroke at Top Dead Center (TDC).. thus using 91 octane is your best bet. It has nothing to do with "better for your engine", it's not a cleaner fuel, or less/more water, nor does it have a special chemical additive that makes your car faster..

all modern motors have a knock sensor, so you WONT ping or detonate. it will automatically pull timing if it detects a knock. if you use very bad or old regular gas, it may still not have enough octane to keep it from pinging even with a good knock sensor. the only differance youll feel is a drop in performance, and that will only be if youre flooring it. if you drive easy and normal, or if youre on a long trip and just cruise at a set speed, you wont notice any bad effects or pinging if you need to use regular.

11 MPG city and around 17-18 on the higway. Cammed stalled and 373's. My old stock M6 Trans am got around 16 city 25 highway.

My M6 GTO got terrible fuel economy compared to that. I usually got around 15 around town and 20 highway. I never EVER use anything but premium in my sports cars.

I drove 175 miles back home the day I got the car, all high-way in 6th gear and got 29.6mpg. I usually get around 23mpg with a mix of city and highway when I am taking it easy.

I don't get it. How are you figuring out both city and highway mileage? I get adding up the total miles you put on one a whole tank and then dividing it but how 'bout highway?

Well in my case at least I live deep in the city. I never drive on the higway except for the military one weekend a month so it is one type of mileage or the other.
