Default TA question?

How much do you think a 2001 Trans Am w/ WS6 option and six speed is worth? It only has 20k miles on her. I've noticed depreciation is taking its toll and booked out at $12.5k Comments and feedback appreciated!

This question will probably get moved to the new category 'what is it worth' under 'vehicles for sale' but in the meantime I'll give you an opinion. 20k certainly is ultra low mileage and adds a real premium to anything that is listed under KBB or anywhere for that matter, as long as the car is as MINT as the mileage indicates. I would say it is worth $15,000 minimum, again provided that the car is MINT, one owner, with no Carfax problems. Actually $15k would be a nice deal because I can imagine seeing this pristine example sitting on a lot for $18,000+. However with the bad economy and high gas prices, that certain buyer would be needed to buy at that price. Is this car yours or one you want to buy??

The NEW section is dreadfully slow. I would like feed back that know about the specific car brand. I'm looking to buy come the Spring. $15k or less sounds fair. Always start low though right? The Auto insurance industry doesn't give a damn for the "extra low mileage premium." It is a true barn find and am excited come spring time.

Well i seen one from autotrader sell for 10.8k with 49k miles 2001 Trans Am Ws6 M6 Black/Black. & 1999 Trans Am Ws6 M6 44k miles for 10.9k. But id say it's worth 15k.

Oh yes, definitely start as low as possible without insulting the seller. I would jump all over it for 15k. By the way, I do not care what insurers say about anything. They live in a different world. Premiums (in the the thousands of dollars) are very real in the low mileage world of sports or muscle cars. Good luck when the day comes!!

Come January it'll drop again, on KBB. I'll have the print out of KBB after I ask their asking price and we'll go from there. I'll have stories to tell years down the road about finding this "barn" Trans Am. Ahh gotta love the classics.

It all depends on how bad they are wanting to sell it...its "worth" more than $15K IMO but not many people can or would pay that for it. If the seller is motivated and you have cash $12.5 would be hard to turn down right now. But if they dont need to sell it they should hold out for more. Right now its certainly a buyers market though.

What color is it? That matters a lot too. SOM would be the most desirable followed by red or black...nbm, bsm, white and pewter would come in the lower end of the desirable range in general.

It's black, who would of guessed. Yeah even less than $12.5 after January. Hard to believe this TA cost over $30k in 2001.

I bought my 02 WS6 in 2005 for a lil over $24 but it only had 1500 miles. I used to sell cars for a few years so I can say that when you get into these types of cars with ultra low mileage and in mint condition, KBB pretty much isnt worth a damn. It just boils down to what ur willing to pay for low mileage since you know the car has been taken care of and not abused. Personally, i'll pay more for that. So i'd say $15 and under is a hell of a buy for a 20K car especially if its a 6 spd.

Our economy has gone to the er. Also there is only small window of buyers for these kind of cars. This is more horsepower than the general public has ever driven. Its not like a 4 door sedan people use for A to B. It works both ways I guess. Some view the value as remaining very high. To others it depreciates just like any other car.

Some small local dealer has an 02 CETA A4, thats a 'vert. Mileage i believe was somewhere around 55K and they are asking 15K. I always loved the CETAs and would love to pick one up, but definetly ain't got the money for it.

Considering the mileage you say it has, and if its in good condition. I would jump to say the price to be anywhere in the $16k-18k range. Now obviously the dreaded door panel crack, dash crack, sail panel bubbling, etc. can always bring the price down. Especially as stated before how the economy and gas prices are looking, and not many people are in the market for these cars. If you can get it for a good price, car runs/looks fine, and got the funds to take it...then do it.

If it really has only 20k on it, it must be quite pristine, clean and still new. And I would pay the $13,000. If it looks driven at all, $10,000.
