If your under a certain mph, under a certain rpm, and the coolant is over a certain specified amount, the PCM will lock out 2nd and 3rd gear, forcing a shift from 1-4 (for better fuel economy).

It doesn't lock out 3rd too, just 2nd. Basically it redirects you from 1st to 4th. I usually just start in 1st and go to 3rd.

Default me too

I too just bought the same car. I flatout am nuts over it and though I have 2 67's and 2 late model SSEi's the GXP blows me away.I cant undersatnd why people aren't lined up for miles to own one of these. The guy who had clutch problems was the first G8 owner I have ever heard that didn't love their G8.
I actually only drive it for fun on the weekends as I want to keep it as new as possible, but I can't resist to keep driving it. It has 200 miles on it after 11/2 months of ownership. I wish I would have got the red leather inserts but the dealers were selling those as fast as they could get them and I still think the seats are really comfortable. I wish it had HUD,and a couple other features my Bonneville has but all said wow.

Why black? It looks great spotless, but a high-maintenance color overall. One Silver GXP is the only one in the Twin Cities I have seen so far. I would have gone with Stryker Blue or Orange. They would look great in Green, I think...if they were available in Green of course. It listed for $41,xxx, with $4,500 in rebates, plus any insurance company and military discount if applicable. The GXP w/6M is the only way I would get a G8.

Get the GXP if you can... otherwise you'll always be questioning your decision. The car's stance will be much improved with its upcoming Pedders Coil Overs.. updated pics coming soon.

Default Suspension Update...

GXP on Pedders XA Street Coilovers. The ride quality is better than OEM and the stance is much better and adjustable.

Can you give me some details on what wheels and tires and specs those are? Amazing looking ride you have there. Can't wait to get back to the states from overseas, gonna do my Pedders and some nice new feet and shoes.
Thanks,
Tate

The wheels are CCW 505A's... 19x9" fronts and 19x10.5" rears. The front rubber is 255 and the rear is 285. The front valving on the coilovers is set to 16 positive clicks (relatively soft) and I can't recall the rear. The car can be lowered much more, but I wanted a pratical stance while eliminating the wheel gaps.
