Default ECU/TCU updates needed for 09s?

I have read about the dealer reflash updates that were released mid year last year for the 08s to get them to shift/run a little better, does anyone know if these updates are needed for the 09s? I just picked up an 09 and I am curious if I need to do the updates at the first oil change(dealer). I know it shifted pretty lame but I didn't really notice anything out of the ordinary so...

Thanks in advance.

I took my 2009 in and had them flash the ECU. It shifted pretty hard from 1-2. It's not as bad as it was so I guess it helped. You have to tell the dealer to do it also.

**** I guess I'll ask them about it when I take it in for its first service. After you reflashed, does it shift harder in all modes(normal, sport, manual) or just sport?

Thanks for the heads up.

^x2

Or use VMS' flash tool for the TCM, only costs $50, if you don't mess up the scan tool, then its $750!!

Actually it still shifts a little hard in manual. I find it easier just to start in 2nd.

Just got my wife's '09 G8 GT serviced today and they had a reflash available for it. It does seem to shift better now. Feels much smoother in regular Drive.
