thats a tough question...especially asking a biased crowd of parents which is what most of us g8ers are. i love my gxp in every way, and if you get one you wont be disappointed. having said that; for ***** and giggles i built a 2ss online the other day and it was friggin beautiful. if you dont have a need for 4 doors, and can buy one w/o dealer markup i say go for it.

You guys are freaking crazy. Is this the 50 and up room..C'mon..I'm 40,I've had 4 Iroc-z's a vette convertible a 94 Z28 and now My 99 TA.. I would take the Camaro SS and it wouldn't even be close. 426hp with a 6spd... Drool ! The G8 has 2 too many doors.. You get that to make your wife happy but still have the power..

The stuff they make the Camaro's interior out of wasn't as bad as the 4th gen. but it still turned me off in comparison to the GTO and G8 I've owned. As did the no space backseat (and the Camaro is a huge car so why doesn't have a big back seat?) and the big trunk with an opening that kills it's practicality.
It's also easier to accept a near 4,000lb curb weight in a big four door than it is a coupe.

I appreciate the styling of the Camaro inside but the G8 has a clearer gauge cluster that's easier to read at a glance, way better materials everywhere, and seats with a better design and firmer bolstering. Buying a muscle car for the interior might not be the point of these types of cars but the G8 is about as gets if you want one.

BUT you get none of the interior space or practicality of the G8 when you buy the Camaro.
Now, call me an old man if you like, but I'm not willing to give up my G8 for a Camaro.

If you are going to buy a Zeta chassis car, the G8 is a no brainer.
Why the hell would you buy a 4,000lb without 4 doors an utility. The Camaro has all of the weight of a G8 with NONE of it's utility.
If you want a coupe or a sports car, buy a true sports car. The C5/C6 is the way to go.

I just sat in the new Camaro again today.
Sorry brothers.....
anyone who buys that 4,000lb pig with ZERO space inside is pretty foolish.
The G8 or the C5/C6 is a no brainer over the Camaro.
The Vette is 3,200lbs and the G8 has 4 doors and a TON of room.
Boy, did GM screw things up..
The Camaro is now overweight because it's built on a sedan chassis and GM is about to kill the ONLY real muscle car they have in the G8.
GM better rebadge the G8 as a Chevy for the U.S. ...
and in a hurry.

Call me crazy, but doesn't it seem like the G8's put down their power alot more effectively than the new Camaro? I'm still amazed at the times just the GT's were pulling in factory trim. Plus, the G8 has an interior you actually like sitting in.![Grin](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_grin.gif)
And I agree with the last post.......GM needs to make this car the next Impala. Oh, and don't **** up the styling while you're at it, k?

G8 gets my vote, the new Camaro just doesnt do much for me. I like the G8 and hope GM keeps it but would prefer a change to the front end as I have never liked most Pontiac front ends, the recent ones are so similar to the Grand AMs of the 90s.

G8 for sure... the new camaro like the new mustangs are for mid life crisis and all kinds of compensation. people need to remember the roots of the muscle car ...stuffing the biggest engine you can in some regular detroit iron. the cars then were designed to be functional, now they are trying to emulate the LOOK of the cars then not the ideals they were designed upon. i am not speaking of performance as much as the other functions a car needs like visibility which the new camaro has very little even out the front, or just gauge layout which is just as poor as it was thirty years ago.
Dont pick form over function G8 for sure
