Default resonators?

So my understanding is that the G8 has resonators after the cats? Is this correct? Does the limit the exhaust noise? Has anyone removed them, and just ran pipes to the factory mufflers? If so, how does it sound. Thanks.

resonators dont cause any restriction to the exhaust lots of ls4 guys have theirs removed for a better sound instead of buying the 900$ magnaflow

they dont muffle it they make it resonate hence the name so its more of a constant tone vs having individual cyl firing sounds

Here is a picture I borrowed from one of the G8 sites. You can see the cats pretty much right off the manifolds at the front of the car. Then there is a front muffler, the 2 bullet looking things are the resonators, and then obviously the mufflers on the back. I believe a lot of people replace the first muffler with an x-pipe, and just strait pipe where the resonators are, and leave the stock mufflers on. They say it gives the car a more aggressive sound, and if you do pick up any power from it it's not something you would notice. Hope this helps!
