GXP owners careful with your rims
I recently had to go to North Carolina on a business trip. Well what a trip from hell, everything from losing my bags, having to find a rental car because of the flight getting so late, flights getting cancelled, and all that jazz. So finally after getting into New Orleans and heading home to Lafayette thinking that this god awful trip was over I was wrong.
While going through Baton Rouge at 12:30 in the morning, talking with my brother to keep me entertained on the road, I see this thing in the road. My cat-like reflexes were nonexistent at this point so it was too late and I ended up hitting this piece on iron in the road. My information center started going off alerting me of my misfortune, so I try to pull over on the shoulder but it was full of other people who had hit the same thing and I had to press on off the interstate. I was on a bridge and had to take the next exit.
I finally crawl into a parking lot, get out and check out the damage. F%^K the rim had a gouge in it ¾ inch deep, but this time my brother shows up, he lives in Baton Rouge, and we both scratch our heads looking at the rim and as we were doing that I noticed that the rear rim also had a gouge in it though not as bad but the tire was also blown out. So as he called the police so they could get whatever was in the road off to the side I hit the On Star button to get a tow truck to my location. It was kind of ironic when they asked me what parking lot I was in I couldn’t help but laugh at my predicament and tell them “The Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired”. While waiting for the tow truck to arrive another car pulled into the same parking lot with a blown tire so I ended up changing the tire for the woman and got her on the road. So the tow truck came and by 2:00 in the morning I was at my brothers crashing out on the couch.
Now for the repairs, to get two new rims and tires it will be taking an entire month. For the dealer just to get the tires was two weeks, WTF. So they called me a little while ago to inform me that the rims will be an additional two weeks. Sorry for the long rant but I just had to get it out. So for you GXP owners out there be careful on the road with your rims.

YEA I FEEL YOU.
I recently got intimate with a pothole or curb or something. I have some scratches in the rim that are not readily viewable from a passerby but you can see the blemishes close up. It fucked two of my tires. I am mad about this car being in anything else than immaculate at this number of miles.
So basically, I have minor scratches on my new rims. 4k miles on the car. Had to get new tires for a car with only 4k miles.
I drove up and down this road all the time in my Camaro and never had an issue.
You have to be super careful in these cars with this size tire.

Yeah thanks for the note on that. Sorry to hear you hit something in the road. Glad its all over for you. I'm sure with the G8 discontinued it will be interesting getting parts.

Thanks guys,
2002_Z28_Six_Speed, that sucks, I have only 5k miles. Did you take any legal action being that you hit a pot hole in the road. Everyone tells me to call the city and make them pay for it but since it was something in the road and not a defect in the road I know they won't pay for it so there is no point.
Greenfire, thanks. I'm sure the discontinuation of Pontiac will put a damper on things and having this car come from down under won't help. But hey I wouldn't change a dam thing, I love this car.
427C5, I would love to be able to pick up some 505a's but my finances wouldn't allow me to swing that.
