Its a tough decision. You are right that the Caddy will need less overall work to make it go fast, but I'm not really after speed. Like I said, I'm more about power I can use and a bad *** sounding car.

If I can toss a nice cam in the G8 w/ some headers+exhaust and still be comfortable daily driving to work - I'm good. I don't need luxury.

To be honest, I drove a new CTS-V. Because it was soo smooth, it didn't feel "fun". Of course its fast, but it didn't have that "mean" feel.
IMO the G8 doesn't have a mean feel either. I don't quite feel that connected to the road.

Yeah to many people think that because Pontiac is dead they won't be able to fix something when it breaks. It is a great car!

I know what you mean... ever since I modded mine my wheels aren't connected with the road at all.

yep sold for 21 or 22k i think, had cam, intake, circle D converter, kooks long tube and catback, asanti wheels and tires along with stockers. So you figure at least 8k all said and done and still sold for what you could get one bone stock for. 31k invested and it still didnt go 11s with a CCW drag pack setup on slicks and skinnies. I just put my two cents out there and its my personal opinion, it wont hurt my feeling if you disagree with me.

no offense to auto guys and im sure ill get flamed but a car with the power it made, with those tires, shouldnt be that hard to drive if you have any idea of what to do and he did. Maybe it was the setup i dont know, but im positive it wasnt the drivers fault, i know him personally and he has much afster cars then that was. Im sure G8s will go 11s all day and i have seen a few on hre im not doubting that, i just doubt the amount of money people actually have in them to go that fast.

And to the OP, I also agree with what someone else said, I dont think i could honestly have a daily driver g8 that feels totally badass liek an old muscle car. just doesnt have that image or feel, its like my V, itll be cammed and long tubed and have 100 shot on it next month, but it will never feel like it has the raw power like others do.

The one that was for sale in the classifieds and on one of the g8 boards. I shouldnt be talking about 1/4 mile because look at the worst non e.t.'ing car in my sig(V), ill never touch 11s unless i trap 135+mph or pay 8k for a built rear setup. So i might as well be quiet lol.

Not trying to start anything im just giving my opinion on the two cars.

If you are talking about the one I think(but I didn't think he had CCWs) it made around 385whp. I think it never went up to be retuned and was tuned with 87 or 89 octane in the tank.....

I agree it "shouldn't" be too hard to get an auto car on sticky tires down a track. But we still see 60' times all over the place, some people cant roll into the throttle, some cant preload, some leave too soft. As we all know each car has its sweet spot the owner has to find, some people just don't spend the seat time finding it.

I can say it takes about $5-6k to go solid 11's. Thats including intake, headers, cam, converter, tires, etc..

Yepp, as I know all too well its all in the tune. RPM has revived my car twice!

The turbo one on Grrr8.net seems to have a few issues - not shifting right and cold slapping pistons? Hmmm - sounds sketchy.

It's kind of ironic that I came across this thread because earlier today I was contemplating the same thing except, I won't be getting the car for quite some time. IMO, if you aren't going to be getting a 09 or 10 CTS-V, then get a G8 and add the item in the pic below or a TVS2300 to it .

If you plan on modding it you should stick with the GT. Especially if you plan on tossing a cam into it. They have the same heads and manifold (GT and GXP) the only differnce is the GT has a smaller cam and a LS2 shortblock. Obviously the GT has the DOD but if you plan on tossing a cam in that won't matter to much.
On side note, I love my GT so far. Had it just over a year now with no issues other then douche bags hitting it in parking lots. The car flies for its size, looks good and responds to mods like any other lsx vehicle. Just make sure you tune it right away to get rid of all the torque management.
