I have heard it said that the Ponitac G8 is a much better handler than the the 2010 Camaro. That even though both are based the the GM Zeta Platform the engineers in GM North America calibrated the Camaro to be more of a boulevard cruiser with too big 20" wheel/tire combo and too soft spring settings than a canyon carver as opposed to the G8 where they carried over Holden's suspension settings esp. with the GXP version.
So guys who have driven both is this true?

WHAT??? I think you have it the other way around.
The Camaro has the Zeta 2 suspension. Better all around. The camaro is more of a sport car.
The G8 is based off the Zeta suspension. It is a highway car. I can tell you first hand that the FE3 suspension is lame duck. I believe it was stated that the Aussie spec suspension was much better though.
Totally different strut mount, ball joints, bushings, ect. They are not interchangable either.
Found a link that gives factual info!

spindle tab bolts 14mm
distance between spindle tabs 25.6mm
spinlde tab hole centers 58mm
diameter of upper mount 102mm
sway bar hole to lower spindle bolt 143mm (angle is also different but unknown)
overall strut body length 407.03mm
Camaro front strut information
spindle tab bolts 16mm
distance between spindle tabs 30.58mm
spinlde tab hole centers 85.5mm
diameter of upper mount 122mm
sway bar hole to lower spindle bolt 170mm (angle is also different but unknown)
overall strut body length 407.52mm
G8 rear shock
eye diameter 12.25mm
eye to top of stud 437.9mm (curb height)
Camaro rear shock
eye diameter 14.25mm
eye to top of stud 414mm (curb height)

The design is basically the same but here you go:
FRONTS
front radius rod bushings larger in Camaro
Balljoints larger in Camaro
Strut and upper strut bushing totally different in the Camaro
Sway bars totally different
End links different
Rear
Trailing arm bushings have different size holes
Camaro does not use a outer lower control arm bushing like the GXP
Upper rear control arm bushing larger than G8
sway bars totally different.
Lower control arms are beefier than G8 at the inner bushing
the Camaro has a larger inner fender area and can accept a much larger tire than the G8.
the Zeta 2 platform itself is more advanced than G8
Hope this helps

True. Under the modified case the only advantage the Camaro has is slightly less weight and the ability to fit bigger aftermarket wheels. I really can't comment on the bigger bushings and ball joints. Only that GM called it 'an advanced zeta' I thought it was better.
The upper strut mounts might or might not play into better handling. After combing some forums I saw a lot of comments about the G8's single point of contact on the upper struts being a pos compared to traditional 3 point strut mounts. I did notice some two additional holes in the sheet metal of the strut mount area and wondered if GM originally intended another design.
The G8 and Camaro links are approx the same. What is the real difference in rates in the G8 and Camaro? I don't know off the hand. Would have to look that up and guess how much of a diff it would make.
Good info, Andy.
