what size ? my buddy is ordering cut outs

Stock exhaust is 2.25" from the cats back.

Every dyno comparison I've seen shows a decent gain with cut-outs opened.

ive seen 17-20 hp so far,while doing research

Depends on what power level they're at. At 400rwhp, the stock G8 GT axle back mufflers cost you 4-5rwhp. At 500rwhp, they cost you closer to 13-15rwhp. So if you have just bolt-ons and are internally stock, cutouts are mostly a sound mod and not a performance mod.
