Default Exhaust suggestions....?

I was looking to put some exhaust on my car, axle back probably. All my budget can handle right now. I've been looking at the solo with j-pipe axle backs..they are around 450$ and I was wondering what anybody's feedback was, and also any gains in power? I may also add an x-pipe as well but leave everything else stock. Also, should i expect much drone? Thanks guys...

A lot of people keep the stock mufflers, or use a GXP axle back. Stock mufflers muffle drone good without losing much power. An axleback may net you 10hp. The real problem is the mid pipe and headers.

Yeah I just don't have the extra 1100-1400$ to spend right now

Then id save thT money and put towards a dyno tune or cai then. The axlebacks are known to drone badly when you add headers and mid pipe later.

I have a tune and CAI. Most of the reviews on the solo's axle back said they didn't have any drone, but I'm not sure what I will do..

in that case, go for the GXP axleback.

Axel back = muffler change. Just go to an exhaust shop and have them throw some mufflers and tips on. Should be less expensive than an axle back. I had an entire 3" true dual system ran out the back on my f-body for what these companies want for an axle back.

Greed4Speed said it right..... the axle backs I’ve seen for sale run $450+ (Solo, Pypes, Magnaflow, etc). You can have any muffler shop put any muffler in place for probably half of what these guys are asking..... will you have drone? Probably, unless you put on a muffler that really muffles (like the stock mufflers). The Solo J pipes are guaranteed not to drone but again, they are $450 and they are quite loud..... but sounds cool.
I’m sticking with my stock exhaust for now and will probably change the mid pipes and high flow cats before doing anything to the mufflers/axle back.

You can get a whole Solo catback for around $800-, depending on which version you get, its a quality piece and very easy to install.
If you want honest tried and true exhaust options for the G8, jump on over to www.g8board.com, you will find all the answers you need. It is beaten to death over there and most seem to go the X-pipe-Solo axle back route. But I guess it all depends on how loud you want to go.

Axlebacks net almost no HP increase and most drone. For the money and performance I'd recommend to get long tubes or keep it stock....

I'll throw a suggestion out there. Instead of GXP mufflers, look into 09+ CTS-V mufflers. My V is a bit louder than the GXP (I've been asked if it has an aftermarket exhaust), has a deeper tone, and no drone. It does this without resonators.

I can't guarantee fit, but I don't see why they wouldn't be like any other muffler change. I had the plan of putting aftermarket mufflers on the V and moving the mufflers to the GXP, but went with cutouts instead.

Yeah my brother just bought him an 09 cts-v, it is a lil bit louder for sure, I'll look into that!

Well I mentioned the idea to my brother and he said later he may get different exhaust so I wouldn't have much money in them, be better than spending 3 to 400$ on something else

I don't think they'll bolt up, but a muffler shop should be able to fit them in.
