Default programmed shifting

Im still weighing out the pros and cons of g8 vs. cts v and obviously one major deciding factor is whether to go with a manual or an auto.

I was wondering how responsive the manual shifting is in the g8 both before and after the programmer....the only cars i have drove with any type of manual shift auto that is electronic usually has at least a second delay or more between the time that you bump the lever to the time the car actually shifts.

So how are the g8s both before and after a programmer to make it shift faster/harder. Does a programmer even help the delay between lever bump and the actual shift?

Mine is stock but it's fairly responsive. Still, I rarely use it. The normal and sport automatic modes are fine even on aggressive mountain driving here.

Auto is faster just leaving it in drive or D sport mode. It wont shift as fast if you try doimg the tap up tap down commands. But a good tune can really liven up the 6l80e.

The g8 is a much nicer car than the V (except the new LSA ones)

Yah I am starting to lean towards the g8...mainly because I have to deal with track on a regular enough basis that the manual would get old fast.....but I wasnt planning on diving into the motor as deep as I will have to for a dod delete either.....

Oh and one reason why I was wondering about the manual shifting was in the case of a roll race (on a closed course).

Dod delete isnt hard. All in all its a $1400 project all said and done. Add another 800 if you want a bigger cam that requires a converter.

I would say the trans is pretty lazy in stock form but a trans tune makes a huge difference. Frost spent about 8 hours dialing in the trans tune on my G8 and it was like night and day. It would shift firm but not harsh on normal driving and when driving hard it would let you know. It would break the tires loose with ease going from 1-2 and 2-3 Spending time to get the trans tune right is key to making the trans last longer and be more responsive.
