Talking An Idea sent to Lunati :0

I've been thinking about this for a couple of years now... Again I sent some basic idea's to Lunati (a cam company located in the Memphis area).
Thoughts for the Voodoo Line of cams (actually 4 cam kits).

There is a market currently untapped by the aftermarket. GM's AFM (Active Fuel Management) V8 vehicles.

What I would like to propose to Lunati is 4 cam kits.
Basicly a stage 1 and stage 2 for the LS1 (GM casting 243) head design AFM vehicles 5.3L and 6.0L V8's along with a stage 1 and stage 2 for the L92/L76 power plants.

243 Kits would be for the vehicles from GM with the 5.3L V8 (2002 to today: Impala SS, Envoy Denali, Yukon, Grand Prix GXP, GM 1500 series Pickup, etc) and 2002 to 2006 6.0L.
Note: Newer versions of the 6.0L V8 use the L92/LS3 head design.

Stage 1 212/218@.050 113LSA .531/.531 (lift with stock GM 1.7 rockers)
The lobes for 4 of the pistons will be the exact same lobe as the Voodoo 60510.
A modified lobe for the AFM cylinders will be needed to work with GM's AFM lifters.

Stage 2 222/228@.050 113LSA .535/.535 (lift with stock GM 1.7 rockers).
The lobes for 4 of the pistons will be the exact same lobe as the Voodoo 60511 (with less lift at the cam).
A modified lobe for the AFM cylinders will be needed to work with GM's AFM lifters.

Package both cam's with a set of the Voodoo LS1 1.8" rockers and the .600" PAC springs. This will increase the lift at the valve while keeping the cam within the AFM's tolerances.

L92/L76 stage 1:
212/224@.050 113LSA .531/.531 (lift with stock GM 1.7 rockers).
60510's intake lobe for the intake and something similar to the 60511's intake lobe for the exhaust.
Again the 8 lobes for the AFM lifters will need to be matched up (4 intake and 4 exhaust).

L92/L76 stage 2:
224/236@.050 113LSA .535/.535 (lift with stock GM 1.7 rockers).
Take the exhaust lobe from the stage 1 cam as the intake on the stage 2 and then create a larger lobe for the exhaust.
Again the 8 lobes for the AFM lifters will need to be matched up (4 intake and 4 exhaust).

Package the cams with the PAC .600" springs along with a shaft mounted 1.85" Adjustable roller rocker (intake rocker is offset). Currently Yellow Terra is the only company offering 1.85" roller rockers for the L92 head (may be able to rebrand there part under the Voodoo name for the US market).

The idea behind the package is to offer the customer the ability to keep AFM while increasing the vehicles performance.

Note 1: AFM used to be called DOD when it was first introduced.
Note 2: May also want to package in a new set of push rods.

All I ask in return is for a stage 2 kit for the L92/L76 (and maybe a 2009 G8 GXP with a Manual if possible).
Oh and I'ld be willing to trade in my 2005 GTO on the G8...
The GTO's already running a Voodoo 60511 with other goodies.
She gets about 21mpg on the highway and put 409rwhp down at Dynospeed (tested march 07).

Thanks in advance for your time.

Who knows, maybe Lunati will bite and start to offer some AFM packages under the Voodoo Line.
They recently worked out a deal with PAC for .600" capable behive springs as well as have a set of 1.8" shaft mount roller rockers for the LS1 already in there inventory.

Modifying the stage 1 and stage 2 Voodoo LS1 cams to work with the AFM system wouldn't be that hard for the 243 base AFM motors.

But for the L76/L92's they would need both a larger split cam profile as well as an offset intake rocker design.

If the rocker is adjustable (at the pocket where the push rod touch's the rocker arm). Then using push rods that are .1" long or short wouldn't matter as the adjustment could be made at the rocker arm. From the images that Lunati has on there site the LS1 rockers are adjustable at the pocket.

Best case is Lunati puts out the 4 kits to the market ($1100 to $1300 MSRP) and GM enthusiast's will rejoice and by them up like crazy.

FYI: the Voodoo LS1 Cam's MSRP for around $400, the adjustable 1.8" rockers MSRP around $650, add in the price for springs and push rods and a $1100 to $1300 MSRP is reasonable.

Oh yeah I just got the Pontiac mag in the mail... Looks like they do plan on the UTE to come to market in the US in 2010 as a Pontiac, but they are unsure of what to call it.
