i have just put on a full set of corvette wheels on my 04 gto. 18/275 in back and 17/275 in front. all i had to do is take a 4lb hammer and smooth out the weld on the strut. i did not want to grind any of the weld of so i used a hammer. works very well, and i still have plenty of clearance. on the rear i used a 3' steel pipe and rolled my own fenders. i had to put on a 5/16th" spacer with the stock lugs. i had to smooth out the inner fender lip as it still rubbed. and some on the top of the fender. i am still running the stock suspension, stock shocks and struts that came on the car. the only problem i currently am having with the back is when we go on a road trip, and pack the icechest full of all the goodies and as much clothes, and other stuff with my 15yr old daughter in the back with her stuff beside her i do get a little inner tire rub on the inner top side of the fender. but my 04 was not made for this size of tire and rim. so far i am happy with this settup.

275 Nitto's will fit on stock wheels no prob
275 M/T's will need a little fender "massaging" (they are almost 1/2" wider when sitting next to each other)
I trimmed my fender lips, many people roll them.
1.8x 60' on 275/40-17 BFG KDW's (same as stock, just wider)
also cut 1.8x on stockers
1.55 60' on Mickey Thompson 275/40/17 ET Street Radials (on stock wheels)

nittos run a little narrower than most tires so nittos fit more like a 265 tire.
i have 275/35/18 bf drag radials on my stock 18x8 inch wheels with my fenders rolled and drag bags no problems.
if ur FULL ON STOCK u might be able to run a 255 tire maybe a 265 but thats it and u might rub on bumps.
