the way the stock box is set up a panel filter wont flow very well vs a cone style filter
an even bigger problem in the tube with a 90* bend right before the throttle body. i've tested quite a few intakes with actual measurements and even the 4" "hardcore" style lost a bit of flow with that bend
Fbody ram air works, GTO ram air unless it is an OTRCAI doesn't....the GTO's wind tunnel design basically throws air OVER the hood conveniently missing the aesthetic scoops which would basically avoid ramming anything into that metal skillet.
As a former WS6 owner and current GTO owner, I used the ghetto snow method. With snow in the hood of my WS6, the snow covering the openings of the scoops did not move while driving on the highway. Hence, air was not flowing into it. My GTO is the opposite. I have the DMS and IMO it is the best intake. Pulls clean air from the outside and is sealed off from the engine compartment. Never had an issue with water being sucked in either. Zero problems and took about 30 minutes to install, which included trimming the maf. Engine compartment is a lot cleaner, too, without an airbox stuffed in there.
