GTO Drag Racers with the M6 - Help me I s uck
Besides slicks, is there any other tips/tricks to getting a better 60ft? I launch at about 2k RPM and was getting 2.260ft's this weekend on my all season tires, I'll be using the drag radials this coming weekend though.
I had a 94mph trap speed in the 1/8th, so I know the car has the power, I just suck at launching

Urban legend in our world but every car is different.
There is no magic way to launch an M6....except that due to weight & gears these cars bog pretty good if you launch too low and hook. When I'm on street tires I air down to about 25 or so and launch about 3k. I'd rather spin thru than bog or spin too slowly and get the hop as the tires load/unload.
I usually run on M/T Bias Plys so how I launch won't really work for you.
There are lots of guys who are magic on steet tires on our cars. I'm sure they can give you a better answer.

If you're bogging and still grabbing 94ish in the 1/8......u have a strong car there!
Bogging. If you don't want to launch hard for fear of driveline issues, and are bogging b/c of it, then put the stress on your clutch and slip it like a real aggressive stoplight launch. No matter what you do at a drag strip....its hard on the car. But on these GTOs it's so much cheaper to change out a clutch than ANYTHING in the driveline. Your 60's will prolly hover around the 2.0x mark but you'll still have peace of mind. 2004s are the weakest of the driveline bunch.
What pressure were you running in your tires?

If you are on street tires, lower tires to 18psi, get drag bags with the same psi. 2nd gear clean off tires (water, pebbles). Launch at 3k. If you aren't spinning, up that to 4k. Should be able to get 1.8-2.0 60fts that way.

there's no need to do a burnout if you are using street tires...like said above just spin them to get the rocks/water off.
when you use the drag radials, yes pull thru the water...put trans in 2nd. rev to about 4k and dump the clutch. Move your foot over and apply pressure to the brake pedal to keep the car from moving. RPM's you want between 5K to 6K Roast them for a good bit then release the brake....keep spinning out for a few feet then lift the gas.
If you get drag radials heated properly, they will stick very well..and you will need higher launch rpm's to get out without bogging. Figure 4500rpm to start, if it bogs then go higher. Just make sure you follow the same burnout length each time so things don't vary much.
You mention MT ET drags...you running full slicks or drag radials? Full slicks are going to dead hook very well, you will need a good amount of launch rpm to overcome

I tried doign a burnout with them a few weeks ago and when I hit the brakes the car just stops completely. I'm not skilled with my huge feet, maybe I"ll get a line lock to make it a little easier for me

are you dumping your clutch or are you slipping it out.And a line lock is a great thing to have and very easy to install.A must have for avid drag racing. My 60's are usually in the low 1.5-1.6.
There is a trick to a great launch but it is a conversation to have not type

I couldnt launch very well on street tires, or radials for that matter. Id either bog, or spin my *** off. I could have feeled them out, but I ended up swapping to Bias Plys. Theyve always worked awesome. Heres the only video I have.
First pass. 35 Degrees, Cold Track. Wheel hopped like nothing Ive ever done before!
Second Pass. Came right back around after the first, spun a little. Went a new best later that day.
I was coming off the clutch around 4,000RPM. Light slip.
