Default Looking for bigger tires on the goat.

I've searched everywhere. Im looking at getting some all seasons for the Goat and i want to know if a 255 tire will fit in the back (will put at least 245's all around regardless). All that ive read so far says it is possible to get 275's out back but on aftermarket wheels. I want to know if a 255 will fit on the stock 18's. Some say that a 255 is also to wide for a 8" wheel but all the charts i've seen show the range for a 8" whell being 235-255, plus the Grand Prix GXP's have 8" wheels with 255's up front from the factory. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks guys.

i don't know about the 18's but i had 275's on my stock 17's no rub not rolling or cutting. and going from a 235 to a 255 is only going to give you mabe 10mm more tread width

Well i guess thats another question i should of asked, would the traction difference between a 245 (what i know will fit) and a 255 be much different? I had a Grand Prix GXP before my GTO and the rears were 235 and the fronts were 255 and there seemed to be a very large difference in size comparing the two.

i have c5 18's with the 265 rubber on them and 265 on 17's up front. all on stock ride height and no rub issues either. i rolled my fenders and did major work on the inside of the fender. i took a 6lb sledge hammer and beat most everything that was rubbing down and smoothed out the rough spots with a big rubber mallet. my son is a body man so the help was easy... he said we could fit the tires and wheels on it without putting anything on aftermarket. and he was right... he did say that if i do want to go a wider tire i will have to go back to 17's or go with a flatter but wider tire on the 18's...

You'll have no probs with up to a 265 on the stock wheel. 275's you could rub, or you couldn't. The cradles on these cars aren't aligned very consistent from the factory.

245 is an ideal with for a 8 inch rim. But not all 245 tires are actually 245mm wide. Falken and (IIRC) Kumho are notorious for making tires narrower than the size would imply.
I have always wanted to run wider tires like 265-275 but never got around to trying it out. Hmm I wonder how the old girl would look with a set of RPF1's and 275's? May have to try it. My friends use to pick on me and point out how my 88 Fiero GT had 255/35/18's on RPF1's and my GTO only had 245/45/17's. Backwards if you think about it. LOL Damn Fiero looked mini tubbed.

I have 245/40/18 all the way around on mine . If you want wider on the back go 5/16's up on the springs and run up to a 275 with no problems.

Yep i have 18x9.5 with 275's with drag bags, rolled the fenders afterwords just for a little extra room. I did have no problems before i rolled the fender though..

275 nitto's will be fine with no mods. If you run a 275 MT then you need to roll the fenders. My nitto's were fine with the saggy springs. I have 5/16" raise in the rear and I had to roll the fenders for the M/T.

I should be getting the tires in tomorrow, i ordered the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position's in 245/40/18 all around, from tirerack. I don't really need to worry about fitting the biggest tire on here as i got the extra 3 yr warranty with the car so i wont be modding it much until after that anyway.

Very good all around tires you bought. I was going to buy them or the RE760's.
