Dont forget that the 03/04 Cobras are also coming supercharged. At that time those Mustangs were Fords creme of the crop stang. I would hope they would beat are GTO's and F bodys. Its funny though that it takes a Supercharged Stang to keep up with us though.

oh without a doubt will a 03 vs a ls1 goat be no competition. And you have to admit it. I've seen those races for my own two eyes... those snakes were just a different breed of their own. Just like the new Zr1s.. A breed of their own.... I'm starting to find interest in GMs tho... I'm a ford guy but I can't get over how much power those ls1s get off a cam. Now on the svt site, a bunch of gm guys are on this same convo and some way or another it got on topic that the ls1 fbodys is a drivers race between the ls2 goats, but the ls1 goats pull. something about the way the gearing is on the goats to the ls1fbodys. I dont kno, i'm not a gm guy, yall would have to read it for yourself, it's getting interesting. It's at svtperformance.com under road side kill in the forms. its like the top 5 threads.

as for doing a swap in the little v6, I'm thinking to keep it, and be on of the few s197 v6s.... or just getting a 03, or gt500. I prefer the 03/04. due to being lighter. but I like the inter. on the gt500s.. we'll see. In case anyone was wondering , the s197 4.0s are rated 210hp and 240tq. They're quite impressive over the old 3.8 from 190hp and 205tq. lol something like that.

Have you driven an F body or GTO yet? I owned a 99 T/A and then sold it and got a GTO. Once you drive either one and feel the difference between the LS1 and the ford 4.6 or the 5.0 you will sell the Ford and go GM.

I had a Mustang GT at one point and nothing compares to the GM.

The 03/04 Cobra is generally a tad quicker car but not by that much.... Ive beaten a 03 Cobra by a fender stock for stock..... Anything can happen on the street. But whats awesome about the cobras they only need the most minimal upgrades to make big power.... Pulley, Tune, Exhaust 450whp......

Stang07 I recall the thread in the Mustang forums as well, I made my comment and left it at that. In that thread there developed comments about the LS1 in the FBody and 04 GTO as well, it appears that owners of the latter generation LS1 in the FBody think they were underated, I dont know for sure so I disagree. I never owned an LS1 car, but my suspicion is that the FBody LS1 is no more underated than the LS1 GTO is.

I don't really get many challenges by mustangs once they notice what it is they normally fall back but i had a 05 GT try to pull me while i was in 5th at 3grand an i just kinda laid into slowly an went by an kept putting on length i did slow down to wave but he didnt seem to care much for that. My cars bone stock lol i'm more tempted to put a 100 shot on it for all the damn turbo honda's around my area then other muscle cars.

For the 01-02 Fbodies... GM underated the HP rating on them..... They claimed 315hp but in actuality they are closer to 350 - 365hp.... The 04 GTO had a closer rating but are still a tad underated imo.... They claim 350 crank hp but bone stock I put down 322/338 which is around 365 - 375 crank hp..... But who really knows lol..... 01-02 Fbodies engine is the same as the 04 GTO.... Basically a 405hp 04 Z06 LS6 engine minus the 243 heads and tad larger cam....

285? That seems way to low. Get that check engine light taken care of and get another dyno test.

Get rid of those flowmasters while your at it, they have been known to cost HP on GTOs. Our stock exhaust flows quite well.

An 03/04 Cobra stock will destroy a LS1 GTO stock with the drivers skill being equal.
