Default Airbag light on

Ok so I have a buddy and he has a 2006 GTO, his airbag light keeps coming on randomly, and has to pay dealerships to have the light cleared. Is there anything that he can do to clear the light and keep it from coming on?

Check the back floor boards for water.

I am not sure but you can check ls1gto.com

It is common for the airbag light to come on when the floorboards get wet. I have no idea why. My floor board has gotten a little damp but nothing major and my light has never come on.

i have a trans am, and when i took my airbag out, the light came on. I plugged a 1 ohm resister into the connector, and no more light. Idk if this fix will apply in your friends situation tho.

Actually I had a total brainfart and remembered that nissan's used to have a problem when the airbag light would come on because the harness to the female end of the seat belt would break wires which is repairable, but the only thing that is going to fix the problem on our cars is to buy another female seat belt end on the driver side because the water shorted the circuts and also having to reset the light with tech II. I also am going through this problem right now with water in the floor boards.
