2004 GTO Exhaust Questions....
Alright sorry if i sound dumb....but i had a 2001 Z28 with pace setter long tubes, h-pipe, and true dual sweet thunders....It was insane! i loved it! The only problem was it was alot of trouble and pricey!
I am now about to get a 2004 GTO and i dont really know much about the exhaust on it...sorry if these are dumb questions but Can you run true duals on it? Or does it come stock like that? If so do you have clearance problems like on a TA or Z28?
Oh and im probably just going to do some exhaust with stock headers....maybe sweet thunder mufflers?? IDK yet. But if someone can suggest some good sounding exhaust and maybe a clip of it.... i would really appreciate it. Oh and i like living LOUD!!! So nothing queit please
thanks

The 04 gto comes with a true dual exhaust stock on it. Muffler wise i would suggest either a flowmaster muffler or the spintech mufflers. I have flowmaster super 44's right now and they sound good. I would like it to be a little louder so im considering putting the spintech's on. They are both good though.

Might try posting the 2004-2006 GTO section for more and quicker replies.
The '04 LS1 cars come with true dual exhaust, but they both exit on the drivers side of the car. There are plenty of options available for headers and cat-backs, but I will tell you up front that NOTHING is cheap for these cars.

The sound of exhaust is subjective...it's all about opinion. You should listen to different sound clips of different setups first. LS1GTO.com has a sticky in the exhaust section of a bunch of different sound clips of exhaust setups.
If you want more options on exhaust, you can get an 05-06 bumper, heat shields, and hangers and have alot more options on your exhaust... just have to get 05-06 mid pipes...it all fits just fine though....

Also, if you do headers, you might like the way the stock cat back sounds. Probably has the best tone out there but isn't that loud at all. Make the H-pipe functional and it changes the sound some. If you want loud, SLP or Spintech should be to your liking.
Like was already said, pretty subjective.

He wont be doing headers anytime soon. Wants to keep this one sounding good but not spend the money on headers and mid pipes now. With stock manifolds and stock cats and resonators the muffler delete is pretty nice sounding...

Get some Longtubes (stainlessworks or Kooks FTW!!) and leave the stock cat back. It really sounds good. Of course I wanted the dual exit on both sides and went with the SW 1.75 LT's and a 05-06 magnaflow cat back with custom mids.........LOVE it.

I didn't see where he wanted to spend 300 but ok.........I stand by my original post. Get the long tube headers whether they be kooks, SW or pacesetters. Get the LT's.............but spend the $$ and at least get the pacesetters coated........

Yeah i will probably do headers eventually but not for a while i lost alot of my money i spent on my 2001 z28 that got totaled so ill probably just go with the muffler delete. Anyone have video clips of any muffler deletes??
