To my knowledge, all 2004 GTO's were equipped with the LS6 intake manifold.

To my knowledge the ls1 had its own cam, same as the 04 vette, but the ls2 had the same cam as the 01 ls6.

'04 GTO's did not get the LS6 cam, wherever you got that info was wrong.

They all had the ls1 cam which is the same as f-bodies. Their was a thread that said the 04 GTO's had a slightly different cam than the f-bodies, but that has been up for debate. When I pulled my cam it spec'd out to the same as an f-body ls1 cam from the later years.

Jeez! I can't believe I did that. I guess my wife is right. I don't listen (or in this case read).

What he might be thinking of is im pretty sure late production LS1 powerplants used the LS6 block in GTO applications. LS1 head/cam is still retained

How do you know? Read it somewhere?

It's the same came as the '01+ LS1, nothing different. Throw a stocker on a Cam Doctor and let it spit out the results. I did 5 years ago...

The fact I posted above was taking my 1500 miles stock cam and putting it on a Cam Doctor.

I could really care less about what they told you. That is the cam it was supposed to get before they started building them and never happened.

I, along with others that have had their stock GTO cam spec'd out, have proven that wasn't the case. Mine was a June '04 build, so it was one of the last ones to roll off the line.

I guess this will never die. Even when there is proof, some people believe what they read....

its preaty funny that this is the first time that i have ever seen some say their cam spec'ed to a std ls1 cam. i have nothing to gain from my post. just giving the truth of the specs straight from gm. i also know that on ls1gto their results were very close to what i found from gm; when some of those gentleman cam doctored theirs.

I did mine 5 years ago and posted what I found. I only did it because of all the rumors going around back then and nobody had done it yet. I had a very low mileage cam and went to go see what it would spit out. I certainly didn't/don't have anything to gain, just facts.

NOBODY has ever posted, as far as I know, anything different when they did their cam either. Please show some threads saying they spec'd the '04 cam and got what you say. I've been on LS1GTO since it began back in '02, so I'm not some noob over there or here for that matter...

alright, i will do the research for you on ls1 gto, but answer this. if the 2001 ls1s all had ls6 intake s and same cam just like the the 2004 gtos, why did the gto make more hp? 350hp compared to the ss ram air 325hp? also why did they put the blue valve springs on the 2004 gto that was for a .570 lift compared to the std ls1 green painted valve spring that was good to .500 lift?

Quick Reply: Ls6 cam in later 04 gtos?
