i have about 13,500 in my 05, granted it has 67k miles but it also had a cam long tubes corsa exhuast and a few other bolt ons, if youre wiling to look you can find these cars for decent prices, and after owning one i dont think i could make myself drive an f body everyday anymore.

I am also looking at buying either a GTO or C5 Vette. I was pretty sold on a goat, until I started doing some research on all the suspension problems they can have. There is a good sticky on the issues at GTOForum.com. http://www.gtoforum.com/f39/definiti...oncerns-19058/

I still might buy one, but I'd want to buy one from a private owner who could tell me what/if any suspension upgrades or improvements had been done. Just my .02.

Hopefully I can clear some of this up for future goat buyers....if anyone else has any input, feel free to add.
Also, not that pedders isnt a good company with great products....but look who wrote the thread conveniently listing they're products for a fix...
Most of the parts and problems described above, especially strut bushings, can be viewed by checking out my webshots site listed below

Hope this gives all of you some room for thought and explanation of why your GTO is the way it is.

thanks

FRONT SUSPENSION ISSUES
1. STRUT RUBThere is a problem with this on some cars. I am at 63k and havent had a problem. There are some bushings you can change to fix this.
2. INSIDE TIRE WEAR AND CUPPINGFor this, There is inside wear on the tires (like every other low car) because of the negative camber. Rotate your tires like everyone else. Nothing new here.
3. NOISESSince when does suspension not have noises?
4. RIDE HEIGHT CONCERNS....too low, too high?
5. BRAKING ISSUESSwapping out the RR Bushings would be the only thing I could think of for this one.
6 EXCESS SUSPENSION TRAVELAS compared to what?
7. EXCESS BODY ROLEIts a 3800lb car with tiny sway bars and a tiny strut tower brace
8. INSUFFICIENT NEGATIVE FRONT CAMBERSThe were just complaining about this on #2....
9. POOR STRAIGHT LINE STABILITYAnyone have a problem with this?
10. LOOSE STEERING FEELDrive one and decide for yourself.
11. FRONT END NOT CENTERED TO THE BODY?

REAR SUSPENSION ISSUES
1. INNER TIRE WEAR AND CUPPINGSame as #2 above. The rear squats and because of the IRS alot of negative camber as the result.
2. RIDE HEIGHT CONCERNSChange the springs....they have 1.5" drop to 1.5" Raise. <$300
3. POOR LAUNCHING AND EXCESS SUSPENSION TRAVELSprings or drag bags.
4. EXCESS WHEEL HOPGet tires that hook and the wheel hop disappears. Wheel hop is just a gray zone between traction and spinning. SRA cars have this too.
5. EXCESS TOE AND CAMBER CHANGESame as #1 and 2
6. EXCESS LATERAL SUSPENSION MOVEMENTSame as #1, 2, 3, 5

Mines not too stable in a straight line at WOT, but otherwise it feels tight and well planted.

I bought a used G8 GT for $20K and my payment is $305 a month. It's a great car and very similar to the GTO, but it has more options like heated leather seats and a sunroof. Plus it's a lot cheaper to insure than a GTO because it's a family sedan rather than a sport coupe.

I'm the only one in my small town with a goat as well and it seems to be the talk of the town.. alot of ppl get a new toy and immediately want to run me to see where they stack up.. alot of turbo rice to munch on.. these cars are not somewhat rare. They are extremely rare and only getting more and more rare. As far as having a 'subtle' look i guess i would agree with that when they are stock but mine turns plenty of heads. Had it since June 08' and loved every minute of it.

Headers, downpipes, no cats, spintech sideboxes, predator tuner.

So mostly.
