i hate loving this car
well i took my 05 m6 goat to the track this weekend (u know, just to blow the soot out of it). leaving at idle to 1500 rpm i did consistent 2.3 60ft times on street tires w drag bags and poly cradle bushings. i spent the whole night running lesser cars down at the big end. i guess it was fun running them down, but this is a mid 12 sec car if i can just get it down to 1.9 60s. it ran consistent 13.40s at 109 mph. am i going to have to invest in tires to get this thing to go ? im just venting i guess. its just frustrating to have a truely quick daily driver thats such a dog at the track.

Ask yourself 2 questions. Is the car going to suddenly make less power? Is it suddenly going to start hooking off the line? No and No. Get yourself some Nittos or Mickeys and that awful 2.3 60' ft should come down to 1.8-1.9s. Rule of thumb every tenth shaved off the 60' is 2 tenths at the end of the track. 4 to 5 tenths off the 60' (which is guaranteed) will have that car around 12.50s. Ask yourself one final question. Is 450-500 bucks worth nearly a FULL second off your ET? You make the call....

Red where you located at? If your near NJ I'll guarantee i'll get you into the 12's. If your M6 launch the sucker higher up and lower your tire pressure a little bit. Oh and kick the passenger out!

IL, its an a4, my problem was wheelspin and tons of it... I seriously felt like I wasted almost an entire second just spinning, caused it to shift into second early each time too.. so I plan on powershifting it next time, now I have some super sticky tires and yes tell him to sit in the stands this time haha!

A stall would help but sticky tires would do the trick also. Just get them nice and sticky tire psi around 17 or 18 pounds, and on the last yellow let it rip! Oh yea and rev it up to 2k

Shes got an A4 joey.. on an A4 ur best chance of hooking is getting them hot and launching around 1,000-1,100 rpms. You will be sitting there spinning the tires at the stage lights if you try to stall it to 2k rpms on stock stall.

i guess when i started this tread i didnt explain my launch completely. when i launched at idle to 1500rpm i deadhooked, but bogged. thing left like a toyota tercel. once the revs started building it pulled hard, then in 2nd i had alot of wheelhop till it settled down. not enough wheelhop to abort, but enough to effect et. i guess ill start looking for another set of factory wheels (2) and look into some tires. ive always had good luck with MT radials on my low 11 sec 68 camaro, but MT states that ET streets work better on manuel trans cars because they flex on shock load when u drop the clutch, cushioning the driveline.anybody got any real world experience with both tire in a manuel trans car ?
