I've seen people get as much as 25-30 hp from a good tune....but if your going to do a few small modd in the near future( like header and cold air intake) id wait till you do those before the tune.

The hand heads are pretty limited and get power by leaning the engine out...the only exception I know of is the Diablo tune, but for the price it still has Its limits

Full exhaust, intake and a tune is the way to go!! Then put a cam kit in it.

I have a good start for you!! I just listed a Magnaflow catback in the classified section for the GTO's

PM me if interested

I would man but I have fallen in love with the Corsa Catback system. My Mustang GT had the old school muscle sound to it and I am looking for a more high pitched exotic sound. Any suggestions besides Corsa?

I had no cats on my previous car. As long as it isn't that loud I should be fine.

Spintech is pretty loud too.

But it's hard to beat Corsa, it sounds amazing.

Borla also has a nice exotic sound to it. I'm running it on my car and love the high rpm sound.

As far as power gains go though i wouldn't do exhaust til later in the mod list because the 05/06 exhaust flows so well. I think the most HP gain recorded from an aftermarket exhaust on the 05-06 GTO is like 5-6 hp. Not worth it imo.

I plan on getting a short throw before anything. The stock shifter sucks. After that a Volant CAI and then my first payment. I have thought about Borla as well it does sound good.

I wouldn't go with the Volant if i were you. I made the mistake and got a K&N. After reading a researching the otrcai's are the best performance gains that guys are seeing out of the intakes. The Svede Speed otrcai and Vararam seem to be the top dog. I have heard of guys gaining 2-3 mph and .2-.3 off the 1/4 mile on the svede intakes alone. If i could do it again i would definitely go with the Svede cai.

Yeah I'll be going Vararam myself. Have a guy willing to sell me his for $210 shipped from Cali off craigslist, but I get a "jack my money" feeling from him

Actually I meant vararam. I'm still new to these brands. lol I know everything there is to know about a 2v Mustang but LS engines I am still learning about. Although this svede looks really good. I just cannot find any websites that sell GTO parts. Is there not a website similar to Americanmuscle.com except for LS engines?

Yes, check out marylandspeed.com or texas-speed.com... They both sell a good amount of stuff for our cars. Also there is westcoastspeed.com and that's where the svede otrcai's are being mass produced now. I just checked it and it says they are now in stock and ship next day. I would highly recommend going with that over the vararam but vararam seems to be the next best thing out. Hope this helps man.

Sweet thanks guys. Anyways I am headed to the strip tonight to learn my car. I need to learn how to launch it. Judging from the way it feels I will bring revs to 2700 and slip to about 1700 then let her rip. Should pull good. My car has 275 Nexen 3000's in the back so atleast I have decent rubber.

Goodluck tonight man. Check back in after the track and let us know how you did. It's all about the launch.

Well I am less than impressed with the car from the factory. The wheel hop is terrible. I had to baby the launch and ease the car into 2nd. My best run was a 9.12@83.5mph....My old GT was made to get off the line fast but I think with work I can get this car to launch better. Does it need LCA's? or is there something different that needs to happen?

A set of drag bags will fix it right up....I think you about 20 lbs in one side and about 6 lbs in the other side

I can try it but this wheel hop is much worse than GTO's I have seen. Sometimes drag bags work good but not all the time. I'm new to drag bags though. Wheres the best place to get a good set. I do not mind spending money for quality. As long as it is reasonable.

Tried to warn ya the car will humble you at the track. Especially a 6spd. That's not bad trap speed tho for a stock gto. What were your 60's compared to the mustang's best? Im going to guess and say you got high 1.8s out of the stang and only getting 2.1s at best with the gto.
