So is the Vararam ok to go with? I just want something that gets better air flow than the K&N and i like the idea of it pulling outside air in like the WS6's do.

I'm not directly involved with the intake altho I designed it. The filter is made in the UK K&N factory and they have been very spotty about supply even though there has been demand. Back when I was hand making the intake I ran into the same problem and every supplier would just have them dropped shipped from K&N so when they were out everybody was out. The last I talked to Spencer at WCS he said that Green Filter was tooling up to make the same filter and once up they could supply on demand. Screw K&N.
OP, you didn't say what year GTO you have., The Vararam is only made for the LS2 goat. Good luck with whatever you go with.

I emailed him this week and he said he wasn't going to ship mine till next week because he is going to be gone Thursday and Friday (yesterday and today). He said the intakes are already made. I would think since they are pretty spendy units he would want to get them to the customers as quickly as possible.

Svede it worth the wait, kinda like if you waited till your wedding night
FWIW I have a CF Banshee hood with part of the underside dremeled so the nostrils are functional, you can see the top of the filter through the openings and I've never had any issues in the rain...

^^. I'm running the vararam and have my hood cut out underneath too. You can literally here the air being sucked in the good openings while sitting still. I have iat's in the low numbers because I have plenty of cool air coming in. But here is the problem with this. After about 20 or 25 mph air starts to follow the curve of the hood and no longer enters the scoops creating a low pressure area. Air then only enters through the front bumper grills and the crack where the hoods meets the bumper.
I personally feel the biggest improvement is in the iat sensor that is recommended to upgrade to when purchasing the svede intake. It changes temps quicker and reacts faster. I'd be willing to bet when iat's are compared between the vararam and svede using this sensor there is not any difference that results in performance gains or losses.
I'll post test results if I ever get a svede intake that I ordered over a month ago now. I got my tuner on board to help. We will test in real world and at an 1/8 th mile drag strip.

Well I looked in the autozone website and found the filter this intake requires. I got an email saying it has shipped and will be at my door Friday. Hopefully i will be able to get the intake sent to me without a filter.
