Pushrods $100-150
Gasket kit from tsp just to be safe.
Trans cooler of your choice for the stall.

do the headers your self, its not to hard, the driver side is the hardest side. The came will save you a lot of money if you install your self, just lots of work takeing everything between the radiator to the balancer off. Labor I think will be 2000-3500 on that.

I'd honestly try and find some local gto/ls guys to maybe help with the cam and converter installs as well. It will save you at least a grand over letting a shop overcharge you.

While your in there, I'd replace the oil pump as well. Cheap insurance IMO.

A cam kit which is really what you need (cam, springs, retainers, locks, seats, seals, push rods, etc) is going to cost $800-900 to do it right. That doesn't include the trunnion upgrade which I would do at the same time or timing chain or oil pump while you're in there. Install isn't horrible. I did mine for the first time using LS1howto.com over the course of a couple of days. Help would be nice. You also need to budget and arrange tuning if you don't do it yourself as the car will be hard to drive until you do.

Could someone suggest a Hot Cam? I'd like to keep "supporting mods" to a minimum to help keep the cost low. just looking for a better sound quality to go with my borla exhaust. Its my DD not a track car so i dont need it to be much faster than it already is lol thanks...

the supporting mods are there to... ya know... support stuff. An ounce of prevention can save a lot of heart ache sometimes. bigger oil pump and timing chain are recommended. tick performance polluter cam gets good numbers. research that kit. I agree with BPP, find some local guys, make friends then buy them taco bell and beer in exchange for help with your installs.

Repairing broken valvetrain parts is way more expensive than paying for the right parts up front. If you are going to do a cam swap make sure ALL of your valvetrain is upgraded accordingly. Stuff breaks under the best of circumstances, don't increase your risk.

I would either keep the car stock or sell it. This isn't a budget car to own or mod.

i would also agree with the price of around 2500-3200 for everything installed at a shop with dyno tune. don't do a mail order tune they are good for awhile to get the car running but better to have someone tune the car.

I was in this same boat a few months ago when i got my heads and cam i ended up doing the install with a friend who had done a swap before and took our time and made sure everything was correct. you will be shocked by how easy it ends up being once you know what you are doing and just check everything twice. my install cost went from 3100 with a tune down to 2 cases of beer and 600 for dyno tune
