New to GTO
Just dropping in to say say hi and introduce myself after my recent GTO purchase. Bought a 05 for $6500 with a engine knock and was hoping it was going to be in the top end. It turns out its not and the engine so now its coming out. Throwing around some ideas whether I want to replace or fix the engine but I also guess that depends on what is found to be wrong with the engine I have now. Hopefully I can find a deal on a built one and just replace. That's just a little of where I am at and saying thanks for any help or direction to getting this thing put back together.

welcome! if you already have your motor out, might as well use the 10k you saved and forge your bottom end and put a TVS on it or stroke out your ls2 to a 402 with l92 heads and a healthy cam........ or both

I think that is my biggest problem, trying to figure out which route to go. I want all the HP I can while trying to keep cost low on everything else (tranny, diff, etc.)

All the HP in the world isn't going to matter without being able to stick it to pavement. I promise you the biggest problem these cars have is not the Power but the IRS and lack of traction.
