Because I thought that MAFs were finicky and needed air to be straight and in a constant diameter tube.

The air is straight because I installed a honeycomb air smoother directly in front of it. Look at the intake on a C6 Vette. It's not constant diameter and is similar in shape to a Duspeed. You just need to tune the MAF curve for where it's installed. Dial in the VE and then tune the MAF curve.
