HEY Guys/Gals,
I have an04 GTO with the LS1 as you know. I have a low engine noise and its starting to knock like a someone beating the door down! My warranty company has given me the OK to switch out the motor with a new GM engine but the bad part is GM discontinued the 5.7/LS1. I have talked to the people from 1 local dealership and they have no idea what I need to do for a new replacement. I don't want to put a salvage motor in it since I only 46k miles on the vehicle. Is there another engine that will go in there that will talk to the PCM and without a lot of aftermarket MODS??? Thanks for any help...

Tell them the updated replacement is an LS3.

 

Tell them to do a ls2 from a 05 vette their 24x should be a drop in

 

An LS2 swap is easy do the right crank reluctor and a reposition the cam sensor walla. Should fit in with 0 issues.
