Default estimate from livernois motorsports

I have a 06 gto m6 with 95k on it. Its stock except axle back exhaust and a dry 100shot. I emailed livernno is about doing heads and a can and clutch as well. The estimate they came back with was headers, heads, cam, all new vvalve train, oil pump, timing chain cat back, clutch, dynowork and I'm sure a few other things I'm forgetting. $2550 for labor and $9600 total including tax. Not sure what i want to do. Therea a 1998 vette for sale locally for $9500 that i could just buy and throw my nitrous on and proly be faster than the Gto will be with all the work done.

If Livernois had a Fast intake, cam, tune, clutch, heads, and headers all thrown in there, I can easily see it hitting $9500 with installation. Yes the Vette would be faster than your current car with just the 100 shot as long as it was sound. This said, what's the mileage on the Vette? What has been done to it maintenance and repair wise?

Also, remember, EVERYTHING for the Vette will be more expensive, and you'll need to budget accordingly. Headers and X pipe alone will be over $1500 for a nice set, installation will run you $500, if you ceramic coat them, that'll run you another $400 or more. Then you'll need a tune, whine will run $4-500. So, in headers alone you could be near or over $3000.

The vette has headers already. It has high miles and maintenance on it is questionable. I love my gto but just trying to get best bang for my buck. I do like that iI can make the Gto fast and still have a back seat that a reasonable sized person can fit in. And I am 6'5 330lbI so the gto is way more comfortable. Its just with the gto 's weight its hard to get that seat of the pants fast feeling out of it. I mean for 9600 why not just supercharge it? So many options

i assume with all that work done my gto wwould be 500hp at the crank. And with a 100shot 600hp at the crank. Am I wrong in thinking that the 600hp Gto would be close to same speed as345 hp Yvette with a 100shot? I guess im hoping 155hp difference would make up the weight difference or come close

Yes, you could throw a blower on it, but S/C's have all sorts of issues at the end of the day, not to mention, being that your motor is not forged, I wouldn't recommend it. Fuel systems always need to be upgraded when going FI, and for safety you'd also want to go meth injection IMO. Even with LSL this, when you start beating on it, it'd just be a ticking time bomb. H/C/I is easier and more reliable.

The only thing worse than spending $9500 on mods, is to spend it, and then be forced to buy another motor!

You're talking about a near 500lb difference, that's huge! I think the Vette w/ the 100 shot would still be quicker. As for your size, I have a buddy in our Vette group that is roughly the same size as you are, had a GTO before his Vette, and doesn't claim the Vette is any less comfortable for him than the GTO. All this said, if you start looking at Vettes, I'd pass on a 98 w/ high miles myself. You'd be better served to go after a little higher priced, newer, lower mileage C5. They're great cars, durable, and proven, there would just be a bunch of maintenance to keep up before modding it.

ya both good points. ive owned the gto since it had 40k on it so i know the car has been maintained and i feel safer beating on it than a high mileage vette. well its looking more likely that i just take it and drop it off and hope it comes back nasty. im not much of a drag racer ive taken the car a few times just for fun. i know the vette would be way better for quicker times. i just want it to be fun to drive and take some people for rides and hit the nitrous and scare em a little bit

Being that it's Livernois, and the mods they're talking about here, it'll be quiet a fun car, and nasty! Make sure to talk through all the mods with them, and get what you want. I'm not sure if yours is a 5.7 or 6.0, but make sure to get it done the way you want it. Bump compression with your heads, get a healthy cam, port your Fast, and let it eat! You'll have yourself a good ride!

mine is the 6.0, ive only used the 100 shot on it. been wanting to use the 150 shot. if it runs as good as it does on the 100shot naturally after the mods i will be happy and then hit it with the 100 shot after the mods and it should be a good time

Labor seems like a good price, although the parts $ is friggin' high. Do you have an itemized list and their costs?

Pro charging the Gto is a better way to go. The tune and boost is the key to not blowing it to h**l. You are going to spend money to go fast in anything. The question is how fast do you want to go. 600 hp if you hook up will get you some low 11 high 10s in the 1/4. We have a gto that went 11.2 with street tires leaving like you would from a stop light. The car was making around 630hp then. Believe me 600hp in these cars will give you the feeling you want.

$7000 in basically heads, cam, clutch and exhaust? You could have one hell of a motor built for that much! 7psi of boost on a 6.0 will get you about 550-600 wheel hp.

Boost is the way to go if you want it to be "fast'.

I would hope heads, intake, cam, headers and tune would net you more than 100 hp at the crank.
