My 2004 gto has been having troubles with the security system, ive recently had to program 2 new key fobs using the 10/10/10 method. The first time it worked, but 3 weeks later the key stopped working completely. The new key fob arrived the next day but i wasnt sure if i could program the new fob without one that already works. I tried it anyway and everything was going well. After ten minutes i got one honk, after another ten i got two, then another i got 3. After that, the security light is supposed to turn off and the car should be able to start, but nothing happens. Thought that the key couldnt be the problem because they should last longer than 3 weeks right? I followed some threads about checking the bcm behind the glove box (for damaged wires) and found the module dangiling with this wire not plugged into anything could this be why the security light on the dash isnt going off?
I cant figure out where that wire plugs into, and its driving me nuts. The dealership has been no help, but this forum has always been an amazing help. This is my first post and any help would be appreciated.
The BCM mounts above the closeout panel with a screw. It looks like some of the wires are damaged on your BCM; repair them. Also, you can't just use a BCM from another car without cloning the original. If the original is not available, you'll need a rebuilt BCM / 2 new keys and program it.
