Default 05 GTO P0601 Code

Soo for a month now, every once in a while when I would get my car out, it would go into reduced power and safety mode shortly after starting to drive it, after 30 seconds I could start the car and be on my way with nothing more than a check engine light! Well today it got worse and did it 3 times in a 15 mile trip, so now is as good of time as ever to go ahead and get a new ecu since it seems like that is going to be the fix for my problem! I have a 2005 m6 GTO. What all ecu's will work for my car, are any better than others? I'd like to stay away from another 05 ecu because I don't want the problem again. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You have to use an E40 just like you have in there now. It was used in a few GM vehicles in the 05-06 years. Normally it is not the ecu.

You're saying normally this problem isn't the ECU? Any ideas what else it could be? Full bolt on car. The only code showing is P0601. The reduced power mode is happening more and more now. It will happen just idling in the garage. The car has 27000 miles.

I had the same problem with my 06 a couple of years ago. It turn out it was the ECM. Local dealership wanted about $800. I bought new one online for $250, installed it myself in 5 minutes, towed it to the local dealership for $70 and they programmed it along with the keys for $90.

My car had a little less then 20k miles on it when the ECM went out. It will steadily get worse.

I JUST picked up an 06 GTO last week and it had 5 CEL codes. One of them being P0601 which also resulted in reduced engine power. Mind you the car has a cam and longtubes. I had Mr. Wright from TXLSX tune the car and no issues since. Hope this helps.
