Default Avg. selling price of a new GTO ???

I realize that the window sticker says $33,xxx....but what do they REALLY sell for ??

The reason I am asking is that I had my local (brand new) dealership quote me $26,9xx for the showroom model (silver/black interior).....that quote seems REALLY low and since I have it on paper (the back of a salespersons business-card actually....and with her signature) I'm curious if I can hold them to that price

It isn't a definite yet that i'm going to buy one.....I'd just like to get that price (or a better one if possible) if I do decide to buy

TIA

That would be the absolute best price I've heard of anywhere. I'd say the average would be in the high 31's to low 32's at this point.

I am seeing them for $2,000 below MSRP here in Southern Ca. I have a 71 GTO that needs company in my garage, and am patiently waiting for the price to drop on the 04s or better looks and performance with the 05s. My cut off for an o4 would be $27,500 for a M6, otherwise I will gladly wait.

there must be something with that one because i'd be willing to bet that it is under the true dealer cost of a new one. if it looks good and they'll give full warranty i'd jump at it.

They say the markup is small but they can still dump them for 30 and make money.

I payed sticker at 33,349. I assume the average was around sticker but if i was buying right now i would shoot for 30-31.

That IMO makes a screaming deal a friggin temper tantrum. I've also heard talk of dealers ready to do MSRP or slightly under for the 05's with the LS2. If that is true then people better form a line. Sales of the 04 have been steady but not breath taking and some A hole dealers bit it hard with MSRP + strategy. If they are smart they won't ruin the 05 model year.

There are people showing up on ls1gto.com now that paid 28-29k for their brand new GTOs.

I suspect the dealers will negotiate even more as the summer goes on. The best time to get one is definitely going to be this fall, if you're not too picky on colors and the tranny.

I have been looking at the dealers inventory in the LA area, and they are not selling very many. Most of the cars I looked at (various colors) at differnt dealerships months ago are still there. I also noticed there has been a new shipment recently and there are several dealers with 6+ cars. I am figuring they will be dying to get rid of any left towards the end of the year.

Invoice for the GTO is 29,450 I couldn't see them going below invoice. The salesman doesn't make comission pay at invoice. I purchased mine GMS price for 29,800 few months ago.

i thought the same of a dealership near me till I stopped in and talked with the new car manager, they sold 20 goats this year. reason you think you are seeing the same one is they all look similar and only come in a few colors. I saw a yellow one for months turned out I saw 3 differnt yellow GTOs parked infront of the dealer at differnt times.

As far as vehicles being sol under invoice..dealers do it all the time. I bought my 2003 tahoe for $25,000 last summer. That SUV had a $36+k MSRP, and I am sure it was well below invoice. Yea it was an "ad" vehicle, and they tryed to tell me it was sold...this is not the tahoe in the add, but with outside financing and no trade in, they had to sell it to me (or be sued).

Dealers are not necessarily losing money by selling below invoice. They get dealer hold back, and/or incentives from GM to move vehicles.

FWIW, I haven't paid anywhere close to MSRP for a vehicle in years.

Their are no incentives for the 2004 GTO, invoice price is 2% cut for the dealership the salesmen makes 0 sales manager makes 0, most goes to the dealer owner and cost of doing business.

Cool 04 GTOs

I stopped by a local dealer this weekend to look at an ipulse blue gto that had just arrived. I found out that due to poor sales up North (Northern states), they have sent "large" numbers of GTOs to Ca, Tx, and Fl. The blue one was to be delivered to a dealer in Mi. I went back to the Pontiac website and noticed lots of cars now at these dealers to include 8 in Victorville (small desert city). The sales manager indicated the 05s will be greatly affecting the 04 sales and that the redirection of these cars would enable them to sell in the winter.

Anybody seen the new "Chevelle SS" that is being offered by a specialty shop? They start with a new GTO and create a Chevelle. It looks good, but I am sure it will be expensive. It was advertised in Hotrod magazine. Their web site is www.alohadreamcars.com

I think expensive is an understatement. The numbers I saw were $100k plus you give them the GTO to start...

I saw the "Chevelle" at Carlisle. Too me, it looks very cartoonish. Very expensive...the one on display was $135K! It was top of the line, full boogie mode. But still...

Cool

That car at Carlisle sure was cool, but I don't think they're going to sell too many at that price. Not to slam Imagine Motorsports, or Aloha Dream Cars in any way, but it's really just a GTO with a bad *** engine, and some carbon fiber body panels. I had a chance to visit their shop on the last leg of the 04 Power Tour, and they definately had some nice high end cars there!

Yea, I didn't realize they were that much. Too bad Chevy doesn't offer a chevelle version with the LS1 (or upcoming LS2). After all the original GTO was based on the "A - framed" cars. I would still want the GTO to go with my classic, but I like all kinds of cars.

There was a dealer here running a special in the paper this past weekend on GTO's - 24 month Leases for $199 a month. They've got over 40 on their lot. This was supposed to be an 'Everyone' price and you had to put down like $2000.
