Default HELP! P0601! Bad ECM?

First time my 05 GTO has been fired up in a couple years. Won’t stay idle and is throwing this code. Also won’t start right back up, have to wait about 30 seconds then it’ll fire up. I’ll give it some gas but it’ll only stay running for about 10 seconds then die. The good ole internet is pointing fingers at a failing ecm. Didn’t have this problem the last time it was started tho. Was parked needing to get exhaust done and needing a tune after some head work and bigger cam. Car is running open headers right now. Also throwin a code for my broken ECT sensor. Anyone else run into this problem/code?

So let’s get this straight. Your car was/is in need of a tune because you did heads and cam. It’s also running an open header. Was your car completely stock before?

The car was stock. I installed a 228/232 112lca Texas speed cam, new valves, pushrods, all the basic head stuff. Nothing too crazy. The car ran fine except when you go to a stop sign or whatever it will want to idle down and almost die, assuming needing a tune from the cam. Maybe running too lean or rich. Never have had any other problem with it. I didn’t drive the car much at all after that because shortly after I installed some Texas speed longtube headers. Only lacking the catback or custom exhaust(never decided). Which is why it’s still open headers, (I’ve never drove it this way. Just tried starting it like this recently and it’s having this problem.) Well a couple years passed and it sat in my garage, just a normal forgotten about project. Recently wanted to get it finished but ran into this problem. So here we are

Did you change injectors or did you stay with the original ones?

Well the E40s are notorious for going bad. I’d get a reman one from GM if you are able to. If you can’t get one from GM make sure it’s a reputable source.

.

I wonder how you can determine the ecm is bad or rule out that it isn’t the ecm tho. Also do you know of any sources that carry these?

My advice would be this. There’s a site ls1gto. They deal with nothing but GTOs and I’m sure someone there has either a source or can help out more because of the knowledge base.
