Default New GTO Aftermarket Stereo Information

Well after having to deal with this Blaucrap system I have now I did some research into parts needed to replace the stock headunit with an aftermarket one and found out some interesting things. Our cars do NOT use the data retention system, if you notice our chimes come from below the cluster. *note the small holes on the lower right hand side* Now the only uncertain part is will you be able to simple plug in an aftermarket unit and go to town? I have yet to find that out but since I know the part number of the harness I plan on ordering one tomorrow and just trying it out. Below are all of the parts numbers from METRA to complete your install. If you notice the part numbers, our cars use a VW harness and antenna adapter....hmmm....makes you wonder what those Aussie engineers have stuck in our cars

Mounting Kit - 99-3528
Wiring Harness - 70-1784
Antenna Adaptor - 40VW10

German radios.

So far everything i've read makes me think it is a straight foward swap. Nothing really difficult about it to my knowledge.
