Default Caught an '05 with Camera Phone

Here's the first '05 GTO I've seen, Red on Red, Auto Tranny.

When he left (guys from the dealership "test driving") he got in it, I wasn't really impressed with what 400 horsepower does to BFG TA KDWS's. I was expecting a little sideways action, maybe some smoke, but nope, just squatted and went, and not impressively fast, to me anyway.

I do have to say for a factory exhaust, they do sound very good, nice aggressive tone at WOT.

Enjoy,
Taco

p.s. It had a nice little 6.0 emblem on the back, i got a pic of it if anybody wants to see it, just let me know.

Nice improvement over the 04's for sure though, the rear end is 100 times better, that should of been done originally

Hmm, IRS and a set of softer BFG's don't lend themselves to easy smokeshows and loss of control.

I'm with you bro, paid $10K less for a leftover 2004 and hope to gain most of that lost performance back for $2.5k

Could be traction control. Severly retards timing and power.

I too have an 04 and wouldnt trade for an 05. I saved roughly $10k as well and will hopefully be dropping in a nice 402-408 package in her this summer.

I love the hell out of my 05 and wouldnt trade it for an 04 and the money most saved. Then again, I got mine out the door for just at $30k which is far better deal than most 05's will go for until summer at least.

As for spin and smoke, kill the TC. The button is on the center console. It has plenty of power to get it!

you gotta be kidding?? The new rears are nasty looking. That gray plastic looks cheap, and the new scoops look like molded Lunds on there. The new engine is nice, but not worth $10k IMO.

Subjective remarks of course... I like the rear end (all bumper covers are plastic, get used to it) and the hood scoops look good for stock.

Speakin' of those hood scoops....if the '04's had em, and they were functional i could have used them last night. Hit 150 on 50 hwy just south of todd george rd. while racing (killing) an eclipse last night.

Oh? Watch out for those bastages from Lake Lotawana. They like to sit in random places off the road where you cant see them well. I even spotted a Lees Summit cop on the side at night just inside city limits a few weeks ago. Worse yet, near the cemetary on the side, their was a highway patrol hiding out in the trees waaay back where you could barely see it. Lucky I wasnt speeding. Needless to say, that is one of my favorite areas to zoom through. I raced an NSX through there to almost 145 in my former beast. Lets just say, he didnt win... (Civic > NSX, go figure!)

I don't think there's a single highway left in KC where you can hit some high speeds anymore. Everything is heavily patrolled. Oh well, that's why i normally save it for the track.

I cut out the passenger rear side for the exhaust and have a duel rear exit system with really nice stainless tips.

Looks way way better than the 05 will have pics of it soon

ive dumped the clutch at 3500 and and powerbraked the tires till they got warm and it will melt the tires with a 25ft burnout without a problem on 275/40/17 goodyear eagles

WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL OFF YOU SHOULD SEE THE LOOK ON PEOPLES FACES WITH THAT SMOKE SHOW LOL

You do the Borla dual/dual exhaust? I've seen that on a few 04's in pictures and it does look good. I still like my 05 better since the rear doesnt seem so tall with the extra black area to break it up some but to each his own. I do agree though, the rear needed a split exhaust to begin with in 04 and the Borla kit is a big improvement.

I really like the '04 rear. Dual cutouts would be a nice option. I would just carry over the same tips to the other side as I really like the stock tips.

The '05 looks a lot better in person than pictures. I shot past my dealer and they had a midnight blue and if I didn't have mine, I would have bought that one on the spot. Beautiful. The rear just blended in. The hood looked real nice in person. Even the red calipers

I would hope that it can. My '04 can do a pretty nice show too. The difference is, is it takes more prodding to get it to do it than does my F-Body due to it's IRS and soft BFG KDWS's.

I didnt mean to seem all negative. I just dont like the looks of the 05s much. I could deal w/ the hood, but the rear is just gross IMO. Had they painted the insert, it wouldnt be that bad. I do like the split rear, but enjoy the sleeper look of the single side exit, as alot have no idea what theyre up against till its over.

Is that right? Then they must not have be able to drive it properly. Maybe this one will change your mind a little.
